2010 European voyage fares

We took a cursory look at the fares for basic balconied cabins (the majority) of those 2010 European voyages released today. Our general impression is that compared to 2008, the prices have increased by 9% or 4.5% per annum. This is less than Oceania's previous rate of increase (from 2004 to 2008) of some 11% per annum, which makes the smaller increase a step in the right direction (and this has already taken in the $2,000 per cabin "additional discount") Given the included bottled water, soft drinks and perhaps tips (?) perhaps there is effectively (bottom line wise) just about no increase for the next year.

We don't know whether there will be even further discounts on specific voyages which happen not to sell. Given the very bad economic outlook for the future, what Oceania has done is probably "middle of the road" if they are willing to be "price flexible" like other cruise lines. Good luck and happy sailing.

P.S. They probably have not decided on what to do with the newbuilds. That may be their new "headache"?! Perhaps they can negotiate with Fincantieri to delay the receiving of the newbuilds.

Based on what we know, I could as easily state, "They are probably anticipating great demand for their newbuilds. That might be their new 'excitement'?! Perhaps they can negotiate with Fincantieri to speed up the delivery of the newbuilds."

There is just as good a chance that I am right...:)

...actually, "O" has recently offered further discounts...but the discounts were limited and offered to those that were patronizing the "O" brand by actually being onboard their ships.
