randa Posted April 9, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2009 We are having a short cruise on Norwegian Jade, embarking at Southampton. Can someone tell us what is the best time to arrive at at the pier, and whether there is any food on board e.g. lunch?
Rare insidecabin Posted April 9, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2009 11:00am, boarding is unlikely to start before then likely closer to 12:00. so this is plenty of time to get checked in. Much earlier and the car parking and security may not be ready. There can be a queue to get through security when it first starts but there are loads of checkin desks so it does not tend to back up for those that arrive early. Yes, buffet and one of the main dinning rooms usualy, if in a suite(AE up) then Cagnies should also be open.

Arwenmark Posted April 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2009 Just be prepared that every employee you meet will likely tell you to go to the buffet but one of the dining rooms IS open for lunch and you have a perfect right to go there, so insist unless you prefer the buffet. jocap Posted April 9, 2009 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2009 Last year we arrived at 10.30, because we were staying at the Holiday Inns next door-we watched Jade arrive out of our room-but it didn't make the check in any faster-we were finally on board at 12.10. I think it was the Grand that was open for lunch. If you make your way to the back of the ship immediately, and take the lift to deck 12, you'll be in the buffet. If you're really hungry, stop there. If you're after a snack, keep walking to the rear and you'll pass a sandwich booth, which will make up your request. If you just want SOMETHING-walk on and out to the stern deck (Great Outside), and you'll find a small buffet, with a little choice of hot dishes and rolls etc.,and a few puddings. There's also a cappuchino machine there. You'll probably find seating there, because people don't find it straight away. There's also a bar, and half the seats (starboard) are for smokers. Behind the smoker's chairs is the entrance to Pappas, where they'll be giving free tasters. When we were on Jade again this Feb, we went straight to the Great Outside, and were 2 of about 9 before the big rush started! One went back to the free ice cream station (just back inside towards the lifts) whilst the other had a cig and a pint....Ah, bliss!-jocap.
