snowman Posted April 19, 2009 #26 Share Posted April 19, 2009 We are sailing November 8th out of L.A., anyone know what the closet hotel to the port is? Nice hotels please. I am also interested in cabin information...we have booked a mini suite, but I hear on the Golden Princess they are exposed to the cabins above. Is this true? Thanks for any advise, 2X cruiser. If you go to cc West Coast Depatures you find all the info you need.
vannagreen Posted April 29, 2009 #27 Share Posted April 29, 2009 From what we learned on board (and experienced first-hand): They have already gutted the wedding chapel over the last week or 10 days. We were located right above it and could hear saws and hammering. Anyone know where this chapel will be located too if the casino is going in where the chapel and Desert Rose was? North2Alaska Posted April 29, 2009 #28 Share Posted April 29, 2009 Now.....drydock reno works have an almost impeccable record of running short of time, with the ship still remaining a ''construction site '' for at least the first post-drydock sailing....So, just beware: guest on the 4 day sailing to Seattle may find themselves surrounded by yellow offlimits tapes, hard hats, materials, etc....as workers finish the job '' on the go''.Folks on the last pre-drydock cruises ALWAYS run accross the same inconvenience of on site workers getting a head start....:( Cheers :) We're on the Golden on June 6th. Any chance they'll still be working on her?
Colo Cruiser Posted April 29, 2009 #29 Share Posted April 29, 2009 We're on the Golden on June 6th. Any chance they'll still be working on her? No, May 5th its done, and in this case it looks like they planned well doing many many things and getting them done in record time with a real quality finish judging by the pictures. ;) You should be in for a real treat. mii Posted April 29, 2009 #30 Share Posted April 29, 2009 We're on the Golden on June 6th. Any chance they'll still be working on her? I am on the Golden on May 16 and really looking forward to the changes. Hey if they are still hammering away I will deal with it. They should be done though by that time. AlaskaGolden Posted April 30, 2009 #39 Share Posted April 30, 2009 Anyone know where this chapel will be located too if the casino is going in where the chapel and Desert Rose was? Based on the Star's new deck plans, it appears the wedding chapel on the Golden might be slightly aft of the new Crown Grill, Starboard side, Deck 7. Although, it's more likely they're putting the new wedding chapel slightly aft of the Youth/Teen Centers, Port side, Deck 15. That room was a conference space and didn't see much activity when we were on the Golden to Alaska almost two years ago. It might depend on where they're putting the new staff training center. Colo Cruiser Posted May 2, 2009 #44 Share Posted May 2, 2009 Anyone know where this chapel will be located too if the casino is going in where the chapel and Desert Rose was? The new Hearts and Minds Wedding Chapel on deck 15 aft will seat 44 guests for romantic wedding ceremonies. When weddings aren’t taking place, the chapel will also serve as a conference room for meetings and events.

i guide the sky Posted May 3, 2009 #49 Share Posted May 3, 2009 I wonder when Princess will have the new deck plans available for viewing. any inside baseball out there? I for one am curious how the new deck 15 layout is going to work and where if at all they moved the putting green. the orignial place seems like prime MUTS viewing area and it is on the other ships so....
