Looking for hotel recommendations in LA

We are sailing RT on Golden 9/27. Will have to spend night of 26th in LA because of air connections. We really don't want to do the cruise plus thing because of the prices. Does anyone have some recommendations? We don't need a 5-star and we don't plan on doing any tourist thing.

Look on the West Coast Departures thread. If you go on Priceline with a 4star for San Pedro (where the LA dock is located) you should be able ot get either the Crowne Plaza or the Doubletree for about $85/night. Both are nice and have transfers to the ship.

You can use Super Shuttle or Prime Time Shuttle to get from LAX to the hotel for about $17/person.

We will be staying one night in LA on the way from Brisbane to FLL in Feb next year. We have booked into the Travelodge LAX for the night. The rates are reasonable, they have free shuttle from airport to motel/motel to airport and free breakfast.

Hope this helps.

If you are alright staying not in LA since you arent doing thr tourist thing I would recommend the Doubletree in San Pedro. We have stayed there 4 times now and would certainly stay again. Its a nice property and the rates have always been reasonable

I'm guessing you're just flying in and then the next day flying up to Seattle. If you're getting in late at night and/or have an early flight to Seattle, then an LAX area hotel will probably do (like the LAX Marriott). But there's nothing around there. So if you want to go to a decent restaurant, you'll have to grab a taxi to have dinner. I definitely wouldn't walk around there.

If you're getting in during the afternoon, it may be nicer to stay in Santa Monica or Long Beach. You would have to get a taxi or shuttle to the hotel (usually only the hotels in the airport area will shuttle you between LAX and their hotel for free) and then back to the airport.

We are also flying in on the 26th and are staying at the Hyatt in Long Beach. We stayed there the last time and found it comfortable and within walking distance of some decent restaurants and activities. We have also stayed at the Coast in Long Beach (near the Queen Mary) and found it to be nice as well.

Just looked at your date and realized you're coming into LA a day before your cruise. Which is what you should be doing anyway.

It's probably best to catch a taxi or private shuttle and stay in San Pedro or even Long Beach for that day. You'll be close to the Port of LA (in the case of staying in LB, just make sure to tell your driver that you're going to San Pedro, and not the Port of Long Beach).
