help with cabin choice on vision

Recommended Posts

I wonder if anyone could advise me. Im looking to do a cruise on Vision in October. i want to keep costs down so im looking for an I Grade or H Grade (both outside cabins). The I grade is on bottom deck (2) and if i go up to Deck 3 (H) one of the cabins I have been offered is under the men's loos (3098). I know this may be a strange question but would you hear, to put it politely, constant flushing. Or would i be better off going down a deck and then prob. hear engine noise. Unfortunately i am a very light sleeper. I certainly wouldnt want to be under the dining room which was another option.

Thanks

I'm not familar with the ship, but let me say this. I personally don't like to be below any public space. But that is just my opinion. And if you are worried about engine noise, pick a cabin that is forward rather than aft.

I've been on Vision twice. The first time was in a deck 3 OV. You won't hear any noise from toilets flushing. The cabins on ALL cruiseships (and I'm not kidding, I watch the travel channel :) ) are constructed off site as little boxes then slid into the ship when its ready for the cabins. There's a thin layer of sprayed on insulation on each cabin box. So you have your ceiling, a space for electrical wiring and pipes, then the actual deck, then pipes for the men's loo, then their floor...And hardly anyone uses the public restrooms anyway. As for engine noise, you'll feel vibration and a hum throughout the ship no matter where you are, even up in the Viking Crown Lounge.

Hi we have been on the legend twice ( same class ship) and have been on deck 3 ov. Last time we stayed in cabin 3008 , a forward cabin that is 2 steps from the lifts and the stairs and in 20 secs you were from your cabin on to the promanade deck( a door at the top of the stairs straight out to prom deck) also the theatre, casino and schooner bar are all on deck 4. We found it such a great position that we booked the same cabin for our cruise this July. Hope this helps, enjoy your cruise.

I Have been on the vision twice, both times on deck two inside #2457 and #2459 look at the deck plan and see where they are. both times the cabins were so quite I heard nothing from the outside. going up there is never any problem getting on a elevator.

We were in 3092 on the Rhapsody, identical twin to the Vision, a few weeks ago. We heard no noise from above, apart from when they were using the gangway above on deck 4. Cabin 3098 is only a couple of doors down. We loved the location so much, we booked 3092 again for our next Rhapsody cruise in April 2010.:)

Thanks Auzzie Cruiser - perhaps i will try and see if I can get 3092. I presume you didnt get any noise from the lifts then? Can you remember what was opposite your cabin -according to the deck plan nothing is showing. Thanks guys for all your help.

I heard the lifts a few times, but that was when I tried to listen for them to see if I could hear them. ;) The only thing I could hear was the ding dong ding dong to annouce the lift was arriving.

We had nothing across the hallway from us except a wall. During the mornings and evening though, our cabin steward would have his Housekeeping trolley out there. The hallway is wider there, so the trolley won't be blocking your way.
