A Great "Holiday" Cruise

We just got back from the 5 night April 11th sailing of the Holiday and had a wonderful time. We drove down taking two days from Hamilton Ontario and were always ahead of the bad weather. We spent the night before the cruise in Mobile and were very pleased to see the ship in first thing on the Saturday. We used the parking lot and it is still 75.00 cash. Embarkation was a breeze and by noon hubby had his beer and I my Funship Special and life was good. We cannot say enough about the friendliness of all the staff and fellow passengers. Everyone was very upbeat and positive. Whoohoo as Tory the Cruise Director would say!!!

We did eat all our dinners in the Seven Seas Dining Room. What can I say: Warm Chocolate Melting cake,, chilled soups, sweet and sour shrimp, salmon, lobster etc etc all yummy. For the first time we took the Galley Tour and would highly recommend it. Certainly because of the age of ship and its lay out the buffet lines were long but at lunch there was a set up close to the dessets where you could have a deli sandwich made and it was never busy. Also the pizza line was usually fast.

We saw all the shows and especially enjoyed Shout and the 2 comedians. Piano bar was also fun. We attended our first past guest party. The casino seemed quieter than on other cruises but we did make a donation or two.

We would highly recommend the Chichen Itza Mayan ruin tour. In Cozumel we just took a cab and explored.

Unfortunately we cannot comment on the brown water, sewage smell or engine noise as none were noted. We were forward Riviera deck.

We took our time driving back home and now shall it be the Miracle to Bermuda or the Eastern route on the Dream.

Im glad the "old rusty bucket of bolts" provided you with as great of a cruise as it did me!

Absolutely ZERO complaints with the Holiday here! No brown water or sewage smell either LOL!

Thanks for the review. We leave on the Holiday this Saturday. We can't wait. Where did you stay in Mobile?

Hi!

We stayed at the Hampton Inn I-10 West/Bellingrath Gardens. It was a quick, easy drive to the port.

Does the parking garage not take credit cards?

Glad you had a great cruise. we have been on the Holiday 6-7 times and love it. Since we live 4 hours from Mobile and New Orleans, it is very easy to drive down for a short cruise, and although we have sailed many of the larger ships, including other lines, we have never found a staff and crew more helpful than the Holiday. Unless you are looking for a ship with all the bells and whistles, the Holiday is as good a deal as we have found.

I'm a Holiday lover, sailed twice in three years. I did have the brown water but I don't sweat the small stuff! ;)

Thanks, OP, for a great review of the old lady!

Hi!

I think that is the same Hampton we stayed in last year before our Holiday cruise. Very nice hotel.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise.

They also take credit cards.

Dave

Thanks. I was checking because another (earlier) review mentioned the credit card terminals at the parking garage weren't working, and everyone got directed out of line, to go to an ATM machine and get cash to pay. So when the OP specifically mentioned "cash", it caught my eye.

When we parked for the May 4th sailing, the credit card machines were down so it was cash-only. We'd brought along the exact amount, just in case that happened, so it wasn't a problem for us.
