Anyone ever done the VERAGUA RAINFOREST excursion?

Hey cruise addicts. I have been doing some research to find the best shore excursion tour... So far I have heard about the Okey Dokey tour (ziplining). Today I stumbled upon the Veragua Rainforest tour. Has anyone ever done this? I'm looking for the best bang for my buck..which is exactly why I am NOT booking through the cruise line.

Any input is appreciated! Thanks! :D

Yes, we went in January. Beautiful... some stairs to the bottom of the rainforest, nice tram. They have a nice little gift shop and GREAT coffee. Interesting local flora and fauna and native wildlife.

We had 6 in our party ranging in ages 23 to 75 and everyone enjoyed it.

We did the cruise line rain forest tour and tram - see my comments about it in the following thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=968358

One point to make. This was about 1 1/2 hour ride from the port. I know the chances of the following are slim but... There was a taxi strike and protest that afternoon. The Taxi drivers were protesting rules which allowed some unlicensed cars to operate similar to taxis and they formed blockades at bridges on about a half dozen major roads around Costa Rica. When our tour guides found out about this they took a lot of actions to get us back to the ship. By cutting through traffic (on the wrong side of the road) with police escort we bypassed around 10 or 15 miles of backed up traffic. That brought us up to the blockade (click here) where we were stuck for a couple hours. We did make it back to the ship in time when the blockade broke up - but even if we hadn't it was nice knowing we were on a ship's excursion and they would have waited for us. I really liked the rain forest and tram we went on and I think that operator doesn't accept cruise guests unless they book through the cruise line (as is a common practice with tour facilities which do ship sponsored excursions). I'm not one who always toots the horn for ship's excursions but I was sure glad I was on one that day.

Just wanted to clarify something in my post above - based on an offline email question. The Aerial Tram we went to was not the one mentioned in the original post - I don't know how far that excursion is from Limon nor if it is further or closer then the Aerial Tram excursion from the cruise line. I'd just wanted to point out my own experiences on the ships excursion.
