Julz226 Posted April 28, 2009 #616 Share Posted April 28, 2009 Mr.Pete didn't read it at the Carnival website. They have not posted it and are not going to post it any time soon. I just got off the phone with Carnival. They will not be posting an update until later tonight, like 7 or 8 pm EST. If you booked directly and are impacted you will be notified by email or fax. firefly333 Posted April 28, 2009 #620 Share Posted April 28, 2009 However, the virus is not spread by simple proximity. To get infected by someone who is not showing ANY symptoms, you would have to be sharing .... soda, utensils.... that sort of thing. Outdoors, on the beach under the hot sun? A great place to avoid any infection. So.... we are back to the same precautions for avoiding Norovirus (Norwalk). And we experienced cruisers (and the cruise lines) have become experts at that. A doctor differs from your opinion. They said the germs had a 6 ft range, like on a subway, bus or closed area, they could infect someone within a 6 ft circle of the person who had it. If they sneeze and dont cover up or whatever the germs will go out from the person who has the flu.

JoeSmooga Posted April 28, 2009 #622 Share Posted April 28, 2009 From USA Today: UPDATE, 5:05 PM EDT: Holland America has just announced it is canceling all port calls in Mexico through early May. The announcement will affect the current sailings of the Ryndam, Statendam, Westerdam and Zuiderdam, and the May 1 sailing of the Veendam. "The itinerary planning team at Holland America Line is developing alternate itineraries for these sailings and the new ports of call will be announced as they are confirmed," the line said in a statement. "If the CDC travel advisory changes prior to the conclusion of any of these five sailings, the cruise line may consider re-instating the original itineraries if possible." Thirsty Cruiser Posted April 28, 2009 #623 Share Posted April 28, 2009 Nope, nothing new online although on our local Tampa news, they said Carnival was cancelling all stops in Mexico. That's the local DC report as well. A doctor differs from your opinion. They said the germs had a 6 ft range, like on a subway, bus or closed area, they could infect someone within a 6 ft circle of the person who had it. If they sneeze and dont cover up or whatever the germs will go out from the person who has the flu. I think you are both saying the same thing. If the infected person has no symptoms, they will not likely be sneezing, therefore would not be a proximity threat. Once they start coughing and sneezing, proximity becomes an issue.
