Passport Expiry Date

I was hoping someone might know the website I could check this information out - and maybe even know the answer. My dh and I are booked to sail next February to many ports in the Western Caribbean, including Cartagena. Our passports expire July 2010. That is 5 months after our cruise ends. When I called Celebrity - they said that many ports have different rules on passport expiry dates and that I should check each and every port we are going to. Has anyone had any experience with this problem. Can you help me? Thanks so much - I just don't want a nasty surprise!

The two previous posters are correct. Although, "technically" your personal passport is valid for 10 years, most airlines will not let you get on the plane if you do not have more than 6 mos remaining on your passport when you are scheduled to return.

I would definitely renew before you set sail.

  • 4 months later...

I would never cruise unless I have at least 6 months left on

my passport . Some countries require six months others just a valid passport.

Countries can change that rule at the drop of a hat . Then your stuck from

cruising or even traveling . The cruise line can deny boarding if you don't

meet the passport requirements.
