Fresh Fish on board Golden in AK?

On our cruise on the Coral last year when the ship was docked at one of the ports we visited (Juneau, I think) we saw a truck advertising Fresh Alaskan Seafood parked at the side of the ship and unloading. Shortly thereafter there was an Alaskan seafood buffet held on one of the decks. So, I must assume that it was fresh seafood!

Unfortunately, the fact that you saw Fresh Alaska Seafood on the truck means only that the company has such available. It does not necessarily mean that what they unloaded on to your ship was fresh - more likely a mixture of fresh and frozen. For instance, king crab legs are flash frozen the moment they are landed on the trawler. But I bet it was delicious, whether fresh or frozen:)

Keith do you think it would be okay for me to bring along a 'pocket fisherman'

on our Alaskan cruise?

Mike:)

This isn’t a joke. There a quite a few excursions that involve fishing.

The bad part is with the current laws; you cannot bring your catch home.

The good part is you can have the galley prepare it for dinner.

2 years ago my DH and Son-In-Laws went fishing in Ketchican, caught a couple of Salmon. The Charter Boat Captain arranged to have the fish frozen and shipped home for us. We had a great BBQ after we got home. They saw alot of Eagles as well on the trip.

Have they changed the laws about shipping home your catch or just taking it back on the cruiseship?

Thanks :)

You are NOT allowed to bring your caught fish on board.

The galley will NOT prepare it for dinner.

You must have your fish flash frozen and FedExed home.
