What is theBest Gold Panning Excursion?

Grandson is 15. Only thing he really wants to do. Any ideas appreciated. Juneau, Ketchikan or Skagway will work.

Any suggestions? Our three-generation family group will be on the Zuiderdam and my nephew really wants to pan for gold. He's 10. Where should we pan for the gold, Juneau, Ketchikan, or Skagway? Do we need to do a ship excursion or would it be cheaper to do on our own?
