Pre-paid AmEx TravelFunds Card

The website claims this card isn't permitted for use for onboard cruise purchases. I have read on this board & others that they were accepted without any problems as payment for the S&S card as well as use for the ATMs onboard various Carnival ships.

I am curious to know if you have purchased & used this pre-paid card onboard a Carnival cruise and if you had any trouble doing so.

You bet. Unless something's changed in the last month should be no problem.

 

The way Carnival put it to me was "Anything with a VISA, Mastercard or American Express logo on it works" That goes for the travel funds card, debit/check cards and credit cards too.

You probably misunderstood- the card can not be used in the shops, or casino etc.. it can be used at the pursers desk on your account. No card except the sign and sail card can be used for purchases onboard.

We sailed on the Elation in August 2004.

 

I used the TravelFunds card for ATM withdrawals onboard and for off-ship purchases.

 

I used a credit card to guarantee my S&S card.
