braemar12 Posted May 10, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2009 I recently obtained a box of cards that P&O gave to their customers on specially marked cruises during their 75th anniversary. The cards which show historical adverts of the past are quite interesting but I was wondering if someone could confirm that there were 7 cards in the box as 7 seems to be a strange number to have. Many thanks in advance for your help.

karmac Posted May 11, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 11, 2009 That's interesting. We were on the 75th Anniversary cruise on PD (also the maiden voyage) and we didn't get these:confused:
Ela 2 Posted May 11, 2009 #4 Share Posted May 11, 2009 Our cruise was on the Pacific Sun. I heard that passengers on the Pacific Dawn got a large china plate, but maybe this wasn't on your cruise. :):) Evon.

It's really nice and probably better than the cards but I just thought the cards would have been available too (even if at a cost):).
karmac Posted May 11, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 11, 2009 Here's a pic of the plate Oops!! Sorry about the size. Will try & fix that that's better.

braemar12 Posted May 17, 2009 Author #9 Share Posted May 17, 2009 I was told that P&O only offered these cards in limited quantities during their specially marked cruises. That means there won't be that many around! Also I was told that P&O would be selling reproductions of their archival material onboard their ships at some point this year. Does anyone know if they have started this? There is also supposed to be a website being set up for the sale of these items also at www.vintagemarineart.com. Nothing as yet on the site! So a matter of waiting and see...
Ela 2 Posted May 17, 2009 #10 Share Posted May 17, 2009 On the cruise where we received the cards that there was one box per cabin. This caused a few arguments where the cabin was occupied by two or four friends, who were then not so friendly when one of them grabbed the box. What you say about a limited number would be correct. For anyone who hasn't seen the cards, I mention that they are lovely. They measure 21cm x 15cm and are doubled over like a Christmas card. All the cards are different and are reproductions of advertisements from the cruiseline's early days. Evon.
braemar12 Posted June 20, 2009 Author #11 Share Posted June 20, 2009 Does anyone have any scans of the cards that were given out? As I have only 7 of them, it would be interesting to see which ones were missing. Thanks in advance for help.
LuckiePuris Posted June 21, 2009 #12 Share Posted June 21, 2009 I don't think these are the cards you are talking about, but I have found a deck of cards on Ebay for P&O Collectors: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Complete-Deck-P-O-European-Ferries-Playing-Cards-LOOK_W0QQitemZ180367967640QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_15?hash=item29fec4c598&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50
