Staying in Coral Gables for 2 nights before our cruise, what do you think?

Recommended Posts

CC members,

Last night we booked the Courtyard Mariott Coral Gables (Historic District 1 block from Magical Mile) for 2 nights prior to our cruise. We get picked up for free from the airport, we are paying $10pp to get dropped off at the port, and $12pp to go from the port to Miami Intl Airport. It looks like Coral Gables is a very nice city with a decent amount of stuff to do within walking distance (we don't plan on renting cars). Do you think we made the right choice for our group of 14? (Rooms were only $109 per night, fully renovated hotel with rooftop pool and flat screens) Thanks.

I think it is a great area. Miracle Mile is beautiful with many expensive shops and reastaurants. You are also close to SW 8th street. If you have time, go to 8th street and 36 Ave to try a very famous Cuban restaurant, Versalles. Food is great, prices are reasonable, and it is a fun place to people watch. They have a delicious bakery - try the cheese pastries with a cortadito (cuban espresso with steamed milk) YUM!
