cincicruisers Posted May 17, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2009 Hello I am a RCCL frequent cruiser and was reading on the boards that Celebrity has a more restrictive smoking policy.. Can someone let me know what it is? Also, is the single supplement the same on Celebrity as RCCL 175-200%? Thanks!
blong2200 Posted May 17, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 17, 2009 Smoking is NOT allowed in your stateroom or on the balconies or in the casino. Smoking is allowed on one side of the pool deck, on the deck outside the casino, in the Navigator lounge( you will have to ask for ashtrays). Lots of people were smoking on our recent Mercury to Hawaii cruise in March 2009.
cincicruisers Posted May 17, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted May 17, 2009 Thanks for the information. Anyone know about the single cruiser rate? I love the places that Celebrity goes. I travel alone and there are some places that I have not been to that look interesting. Plus I like to dress for dinner and it seems like this is more the norm on Celebrity.. One more question.. Since I am a Diamond on RCCL does that transfer over to Celebrity?

And if you want to dress up, go for it:) Oh, guess I should have said hello first:)...Hello
Shirley C Posted May 17, 2009 #5 Share Posted May 17, 2009 Is the new smoking policy fleetwide? I don't smoke, but am wondering.
nothriver Posted May 17, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 17, 2009 I'm new to cruising so I can only speak from my experience: for the single cruiser rate - I checked prices for our cruise almost daily. We have 4 cabins and one is a single. The rates were the lowest in the few weeks just before final payment. At that time, there was also a break on the single supplement. When we initially booked, the single was 200% and I'm not exactly sure but I think it must have fallen to 150% at some point, in addition to the low Resident/Senior rates that were offered at that time. I'm not sure if that helps you but until someone more knowledegable comes along to confirm or deny - it seems the supplement can be discounted as are the cabin rates. Gonzo70 Posted May 17, 2009 #8 Share Posted May 17, 2009 One more question.. Since I am a Diamond on RCCL does that transfer over to Celebrity? They will recognize you as a Captains Club Member (their version of Crown & Anchor) at the equivalent level. I love Celebrity but their two biggest weaknesses are very few meanginful perks with their loyalty program (i.e. nothing resembling the concierge lounge and coupon book has little useful in it) and their coffee. Prices can go down, yes, and sometimes they are 150% but that is not the "norm". So you got a good deal:)
mtnman100 Posted May 19, 2009 #11 Share Posted May 19, 2009 A big improvement for us non-smokers over previous Celebrity and other cruise line trips was the highly restrictive smoking policy experienced on the Century ta cruise we just returned from. Nice and courageous step, Celebrity!
