CHARGERFAN83 Posted May 21, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2009 I just realized that our November cruise will be stopping in Barbados on their Independence Day, Nov 30th. I know many places will be closed. Does anyone have any experience being on the island on Independence day? Are the beaches going to be more crowded? Are restaraunts going to be open? Aplmac Posted May 22, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2009 The beaches will definitely be more crowded. Some restaurants will be open, particularly fast-food type places. Minimal traffic in and around Bridgetown, though! Shouldn't be too bad overalll, however.. and all things considered good ole Accra/Rockley Beach is probably your best bet, that day ;) -or an island tour! :) Forget shopping... unless a few shops are open in the cruise terminal, right in the Port itself. . Just to echo aplmac....there will be minimal shopping opportunities that day. An island tour is an option and most places of interest should be open. You could probably take in the independence day parade as well...it passes through bridgetown and starts just on the outskirts of town so you would not have to venture far from the cruise ship to take it in. Enjoy your visit.
