Early Arrival in Venice

I'm sure someone has done this and can help. Flight from JFK gets in 9:30ish to Venice and you can't board Windsurf til 1pm...would love to explore a little for 3 hours but not lugging bags. Can you drop off bags at the dock area? Will they be ok until boarding time? Doing the Aug, 2-9 Surf Venice to Venice.

 

Also, who knows the best restaurant in Venice for the first night? And is Harry's Bar worth a visit? Or too touristy. Thanks cruisers.:cool:

I don't know about the dock area but there is a left luggage office in Piazzale Roma.You can catch a bus from here or a land taxi to the Stazione Marittima.Buses stop here from the airport.

There are also lockers at Santa Lucia railway station which is not far from P.Roma.

Friends just returned from Venice and went to Harry's Bar. Walked out when they took a look at the very overpriced menu.
