Credit Card Hold?

If you use a credit card for your account, is there a hold put on that card? Some friends sailed on another cruise line a couple of years ago and said that the Line had put a hold on their card, so they were not able to use it in the Ports of Call. We have never experienced this, but we were just wondering if we should expect this or not.

I haven't experienced it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

I heard of it happening to someone but then that person mentioned that they had a very low credit limit on the card and that was the problem.

They don't put holds on the credit cards, they do real charges every time your room tab hits $500.
