can Paynes & Carlisle be done by bus 8am-5pm?

If we caught the bus 1A at Princess Alice terminal to Paynes Bay to do the turtles, would we have time to bus back to Fairchild terminal 13B to go to Carlisle Bay to the shipwrecks? Do I have the buses correct?

Or, if we decide to just go to Carlisle Bay for the shipwrecks, is there a tour there for turtles also? Is Fairchild terminal walking distance from cruise port?

Not Aplmac but I maybe able to help you with a few of your questions.

It is possible to do both Carlisle Bay and Paynes bay but there are on different coast so it maybe a bit hectic...depending on how long you plan to stay at each location. Paynes bay is on the West Coast and Carlisle Bay in Bridgetown.

Fairchild Street bus terminal is within walking distance of the port as is Carlisle Bay but it maybe best to get a taxi from the port to Carlisle Bay initially then bus it from there.

Not sure what the exact buses/routes are...hopefully once Aplmac responds he maybe able to conform that info for you but I can also check it outr for you.

Any other questions...please feel free to ask.

how long is the walk from the Cruise Terminal to Carlisle Bay?

About 1.5 miles...20-25 mins? Not impossible.

You walk thru the town (along the waterfront boardwalk), cross the bridge

and head up Bay Street another 200-300 yds.

You'll see Lobster Alive and Boatyard on your left...you're there.

Thanks aplmac! We have been to your beautiful island many times, and love it. We had ended up at Carlisle Bay as part of a shore excursion and enjoyed it very much. We knew it was fairly close to the terminal. If it isn't too humid for my wife, we'll have a nice stroll. Thanks again.

What part of Carlisle beach is the nicest?

We prefer quiet' date=' good swimming water, shade and facilities. [/quote']It's much the same along its near-2-mile length

Take a stroll until you find a spot that you like...and which likes you.

This bit is very close to the Yacht Club.

How far from the cruise port to Paynes Bay ?
About 4.5 miles due North of the Port area.

Easy to get going there, because you're on the right side of Bridgetown

and don't have to wade thru any traffic. :)

Consequently, the trip takes 10 maybe 15 mins. -that's all.

You just take the bus right? Approximatley what is the cost of a bus vs. taxi.

Can you see the Sea Turtles at this beach? Is there places to swim, lay in the sun etc at this beach?

Are there closer beaches to the port that are better?

Yes you can take the bus. The cost of the bus is $1.50 BDS ($0.75 US). Taxi can run you about $15-$25 US..each way.

Yes there is a place to lay & swim. Not sure about the Sea Turtles

Brandons Beach is a lot closer to the port about 5 minutes....this is popular with the locals so you may encounter a bit of a crowd depending on when you are in port. There is also Carlisle Bay and boat yard.

Do you know which beach you can go to to see the Sea Turtles?

To go to Brandon's Beach is it 5 mins by car or by foot?

Is there a fee for Brandon's Beach, if so, how much? Are there lockers? Sorry if duplicating this question...

No charge whatsoever. ALL Beaches in Barbados are FREE.

People charge you for using their umbrellas, facilities and so on but access to the beach is always free.

However Brandons does not have lockers etc...its a beach mainly used by the locals so it does not have that much in the way of facilities.

Any lockers at Paynes? If we swim out to see the turtles and I would want to make sure our shoes and junk are safe.

Can't say for certain if there are lockers at Payne's Bay but I suspect they might me. I could check it out for you to be sure or someone else maybe able to give you a definitive answer.

Will check it out for you.

I didnt see any lockers at Paynes. There were plenty of people from the ship there.... We just asked someone to keep an eye on our stuff. We ended up being friends with them and they tagged along with us via the bus to Rockley beach.
