Princess Assigning Hotels in FAI

I posted this on the Alaska thread but got to thinking about it and figured that it really fit here better. My DW and our family are leaving in 20 days on the IP NB out of Vancouver for a 12 day Cruise tour. We are still not sure of what hotel Princess will place us in in Fairbanks. Does anyone know when they assign the rooms (There are a total of 7 of us in three mini-suites), and where it will show up in the Cruise Personalizer? Just curious. I guess we are getting excited as the days get smaller and smaller woo hoo

We thought we were staying at the Fairbanks Princess Lodge when we were there 2 years ago. However, once we got there, we were told that we would be at the River's Edge Resort. When they told us, we were very disappointed. However, it turned out to be one of the most wonderful places to stay! It was on the average of 92 degrees every day we were there. The Princess Lodge did not have A/C, so all of the windows were open. The River's Edge Resort is all adorable cabins along the river, and they had A/C! It was a wonderful place to relax and to walk around. If we ever get back there, I would REQUEST to stay at the River's Edge!

Thanks Maria, I sure hope we get your weather too. Since we are from TX, we are used to the 90's. We get cold when it gets near 50!!! Hope we get as lucky as you did. Tnx for the info

You probably won't find out which hotel you're assigned to until you get to Fairbanks but it could be listed in your Cruise Personalizer pre-cruise information. And, of course, you'll find out which room you're in at the hotel when you get to the hotel. I've never heard of knowing which room you're in beforehand. :(

Your travel agent gets the hotel name(s) 21 days before your trip starts. I called Princess (we booked directly) 21 days before and they emailed me the names, addresses and phone numbers of all the hotels. We are at the Fairbanks Princess Lodge starting 6/1. I don't think they assign room numbers for the hotel till you arrive. I have looked and this information is not on the Cruise Personalizer.

We just got our cruise documents for our Island to Alaska cruise tour and it says that they will post the Fairbanks hotel 21 days prior to sailing. You should be able to go to the cruise personalizer to see which hotel you will be at. It is good to know that the other hotels are good ones. We like to know where we will be ahead of time, though.

Thanks for the info Pam. I didn't expect to know our room number just which hotel we might be assigned. I can't find anything in my cruise personalizer but we are still 22 days out so technically they don't need to tell us. I forget my numbers as I am counting from the day we fly out to VYR on the 20th. Of course we don't sail until the 22nd. A big thanks to all who have tried to answer my question. Hope everyone has a wonderful cruise.

If you are on the escorted cruisetour meals inclusive), then you are definitely at the Princess Riverside Lodge.

Hi Pia, no we aren't on the paid meal type trip. My only concern and, it's a small one, is which hotel we will be assigned to. I can't find anypplace on the Princess Cruise Personalizer where it might tell me. The itinerary only shows a "Fairbanks Hotel". Honestly, I guess it really doesn't matter much. We will have a great time no matter what!!!

Thanks and Cheers, Kenn

We are starting our cruisetour on June 15, and our Cruise Personalizer still just says "Fairbanks Hotel". All the others are named on the itinerary, so I assume this one is still unknown.

CAA, thanks, that's what we have seen too. I guess we will need to give our TA a call or simply just get surprised when we get there. Thanks for answering.

We just returned from a cruisetour and stayed at Fairbanks Princess Lodge. It was ok, nothing great. We found out 3 weeks in advance from our agent at Princess.

Thanks for the response. I suspect I need to call my TA or just get surpirsed when we get there. We plan on having fun not matter what but I am not big on suprises. Thanks for your answer.

For those of you who tried to help me find the answer, thanks. My DW just found out today from our TA that our group of 7 will be staying in the Bear Lodge next door to Creamers. It looks like a nice place. A little out of the way, but very pretty and it supposedly has one the best restaruants around. Oh and we are in mini-suites. we don't know if that matters or not in room assignments. Our friend, Ladyleo84 and her DH are there also and they are in a mini as well.
