califmamabear Posted June 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2009 We are sailing on the Marnier of the Seas to Mexico on July 5th. Can't wait! Our last cruise was to Alaska and we loved cruising so much we are bringing our 18 and 21 year olds on this one. My husband and I dressed up on the Alaskan cruise but wondering is the Mexican cruise in the summer going to be as formal? I think our girls would love to dress for the formal nights but dont want to be too dressed up. Also any thoughts on doing the MTD or the traditional dining with our kids. This will be their first cruise and I want it to be a great experience.
cb at sea Posted June 1, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2009 On the formal nights, yes, it will be formal! You really can't be "too" dressed up on formal nights! Tux or dark suit for the men, gown or cocktail dress for the women! Just because it's warm, doesn't make it less "formal"!
califmamabear Posted June 1, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted June 1, 2009 Thank you for your reply. Personally I love dressing up for dinner. I don't do it at home so it makes it feel more special. Only wish everyone would do the same!
dirtgirl Posted June 1, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2009 Formal nights will be Monday and Friday, and it is such a nice time to get a good family portrait in with everybody dressed up.;) If you have MTD, you still are in the dining room, so it is still formal dress.:)
mpbmark Posted June 1, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 1, 2009 Although it doesn't seem to be working now, check out the RCCL tuxedo rental here http://tuxedorentals.rccl.com/ when it comes back on line. Very simple and no packing for you. Tux is in cabin when you board and after the second formal, just leave it on the bed the next morning and it disappears. Cinebrat Posted June 1, 2009 #6 Share Posted June 1, 2009 We are on the same cruise with you and we are both dressing up. I usually dress in a dark suit and my wife in a cocktail dress. If its too hot, we may change into something a little more casual after diner.
