Craps Players Step Inside!

Wow MrCo9.. it never ceases to amaze me how many ways people come up with to try to cheat money out of a casino... After your explanation I fully understand the situation, and the reason for the rule. But prior to reading it if someone said you could not call a bet without the money visible I would not have been able to understand the thinking in that.

When a 7 is rolled on the come-out roll, do all place bets lose? It was my understanding that place bets are off on the come-out roll, but the free online games I've been playing with (including this one that Yo Eleven posted in this thread awhile ago) remove the place bets on a 7 come-out roll.

Yes place bets are off on the come out unless you specifically ask the dealer to leave them working. I think that the online sites might just be taking the bets down and returning them to you. One of the reasons I don't use the bodog site for craps (as I do for other casino games) is that IIRC, place bets are taken down after they win. Annoying to me.

What I use to practice is a program called WinCraps. You can download it and try it out. VERY flexible and the play flows well.

Andy, thanks for the link.

I feel the same way about having the bets taken down each time.

I did find that with that game, you have to place both sides to get it to work halfway decently.

Although, maybe there is something to playing the dark side..lol

When a player at a $5 mininum table put $10 on the pass line and takes $5 odds, that's a tell.

When a player does not take even odds for the 5 and/or 9, that's a tell.

What would you think of a player who put $15 on the line and took double odds EXCEPT if the point was 6 or 8, in which case he took only $25 odds?

That sounds like a player who does not want white chips. As for me, it only makes sense to give or take the maximum odds allowed.

Bingo!! You're right that one should take as much in odds as is allowed. I'd never consider it if the chips were in fact white, but I have been thinking about this on my next cruise, simply because Princess' one dollar chips are a dark blue with red trim, with the value printed in a dull color on a "busy" background. In the poor lighting at the craps tables and my reduced vision, it makes for a little confusion at the speed I need to make decisions. Last cruise, I asked if they'd allow $25 odds on 6/8 for a ten dollar line and they said no. For now, just thinking about it.

This thread is awesome. I loves me some craps. I play right. I like to see the dice pass and for numbers to be hit. I like the excitement of this. Almost everyone plays right, so passing dice and numbers being hit is good for the table. Wrong betters are evil and try to throw their hex on the dice so that the number that shall not be named comes up. :D

Now, for question re: craps on cruise ships..

What if the table is single odds with a $5 minimum? I understand many cruise ship tables are this way (LAME!).

With $5 on the line, single odds gives you an odd dollar amount on the 5 and 9. Can they pay me the 50 cents? Or do I get screwed like I would if I had made the bet in Vegas where no one has single odds? Or would they let me bump my odds bet up to $6?

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO jsmeeker: So far the only cruise line I've been on that only offers single odds is Royal Caribbean. Celebrity used to have single odds, but, they play 3x-4x-5x odds for a while. If the point is a 5/9 then they allow you to put an extra dollar on your odds bet so they can make the correct payout.[/size]

Thanks.

The cruise I will be going on is a RCI cruise. But it's not for another 16 months! Maybe they will be enlightened and offer 3x-4x-5x. Heck even just 2x all the time would be better than a measly single odds. Of course, at 1x, I could buy in at less money and still bet my regular way. Or I could just place a few extra bets and get more numbers working for me.

Chrisc71,

My recommendation is whenever you go to Atlantic City play craps at the Borgata. Hopefully you can learn which way to throw the dice to have half a chance on a super bouncy table. The Celebrity Summit's bounce characteristics are very similar to the Borgata's tables.

PLUS, the Borgata is where the 4+ hour roll occurred.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO MrCo9: It may have been a 4+ hour roll, however, were players making hardway bets and prop bets? If so this could have led to the 4+ hour roll because it would have taken longer to pay out the prop bets and hardway bets. If players were just making Pass Line, Come, Don't Pass and Don't Come bets with odds the payouts would have taken less time. Or did the shooter keep rolling numbers for that time defying what the odds would be for a seven to come up? Having been the shooter when a few good rolls came up from personal experience when you had lots of players making prop bets and hardway bets that slowed the game down.

The actual number of throws in this hand were 154 and the Borgata lost about $200,000 on this hand. From what I heard there were a lot of newbies at the table who didn't know too much about betting.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Dicenator: Thank you for that important piece of information. While the Borgata might have lost money on that particular roll that shooter had they probably made up for it as other players were hoping that the table would get hot again.

Think you're running hot? Another $5 million winner at Atlantic City

By Nick Sortal July 19, 2011 07:37 AM

On the heels of the massive haul by Don Johnson (no, not the Miami Vice star), another gambling has raked in loot in Atlantic City.

The unidentified man took in $5.3 million at the Tropicana in Atlantic City, playing mostly craps.

(Note: He left a $150,000 tip.)

Trop got hit hard twice this year, not that I feel bad for them.

Love it. Not a big spender but I like it when I can stretch $50 - 100 out into several nights of fun. My partner likes the shows, and might coax me along to one, but Id much rather be rolling the dice.

Does anyone play Craps Deluxe on Iphone or IPad? Fun, and good practice, but much less exhilerating when it's play money. ha.

Has anyone played aboard Carnival Magic?

We are sailing in April, but havent seen too much info on what people ethink of the casino.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Dread Pirate Roberts: I have never been on the Carnival Magic. However, I have been on the Carnival Dream. My worst casino experience on board a cruise ship. I was on board the Carnival Triumph a month before to celebrate my 20th anniversary. The dealers and casino management treated the players well. They had to run us off the table when the casino closed on most nights. On the Carnival Dream they didn't have that problem. Most people were gone from the craps table by 2400 hours.

Wow, actually one of my better casino trips was on the Dream. Made decent money on the craps table.

I will be on the Magic in November... I'll be more than glad to give a casino review when I get back, but I assume the casino is laid out pretty much the same as the Dream since they are sister ships. I liked the layout. At the time the Dream was the only ship to have a non-smoking section to the casino. Now they all do, but I liked being able to play without the smoke. I have been in enough casinos where I had to deal with the smoking, so it was a nice change.
