roysue Posted June 3, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2009 We have booked a cruise departing October 19th and will need a pre cruise hotel for 1 night. We are looking for any insight into comparing these 2 properties. If all things were equal, which would you choose? Thanks for any help!
familyof4cruising Posted June 9, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2009 Is it the Homewood Suites Blue lagoon? If so ,that is much nicer hotel than the HI Port. The HI port has more to do in the area and is closer to the pier, but the Homewood Suites has breakfast and free shuttle from the airport- IMO cleaner and nicer. You will have to pay for a taxi to the port no matter what.
JohninDC Posted June 9, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 9, 2009 We stayed at the Homewood Suites Blue Lagoon last March - best option for us as our flight did not arrive until evening. shuttle service was okay - airport construction was an issue. Good area, lots of other hotels near by - nice strip shopping mall two blocks (5 min. walk) away with several dining options; we chose Casa Juan for great Cuban food at good prices. Your other options were Chinese, a nice looking Italian place, and Burger King. There is also a Starbucks, a grocery store (Publix) and a liquor store for your pre-cruise shopping needs.:D Breakfast in the morning was good with typical pastries& cereal along with eggs. The pool was nice and uncrowded. A cab the next morning to POM cost us $28 including tip; shuttle service was also available at $10/per person. We checked out just after 11:00 AM and were at POM by 11:30. Good luck!:)
