Smuggling Cubans onboard

smuggling them onboard is NOT a issue. Its only smuggling them off the boat

when you get to the US port that is a problem.

To my understanding you can bring them onboard if you smoke it onboard in

smoking areas.

But bringing them into the US is too too risky. The fines are not cheap to

my understanding. Please remember your bags will be sniffed down by dogs.

Even if you do self debark and drag your bags behind you?

No big deal they really dont care anymore and looks like Cuba is in the mix again with USA...just watch they will be opening Casinos again and will be a Cruise stop in the next few years,,,:p

You might be right. BUT statements exactly like yours have been said about every 5 years for the last 50 years.

When my MIL comes from Moscow she has to bring cases of her own brand of cigarettes. She thinks American tobacco is just not as good as the Turkish death sticks she lives off of from dawn to dusk. Anyway, the Customs agents can't even read the packaging, but they've never given her a hard time except about the quantity. They just know it's tobacco, and not pot, hash, etc.

Remove all the packaging and put them in a different box.

Dress the Cubans up like tourists; you'll be fine. :D

Then, store them in your dresser at home. Better put the bigger ones in the lower drawer.

How do you know they aren't Dominican in Cuban clothes? :D

We are heading up to Canada on the 7th on the beautiful Splendor. One of the guys at work asked if I could smuggle a box of Cubans (cigars not people!). Anyone out there who has tried this?

You might be able to smuggle them, you will likely have to lie to a customs agent...all for some guy at work who wants a Cuban Cigar:eek:.

Or better yet, tell them you are a cigar smoker and should have rights just like everyone else! How dare they discriminate against Cuban cigar smokers.....it aint right I tell ya! You deserve the same legal rights that non cuban cigar smokers have and that is final!

Oh you are not Cuban...it's just the cigars...opps...oh well, you still should be afforded every single right that could be offerred to you!!!!:D

OK, serious answer now...

I've "heard" that a guy was in Roatan last year and put a full box of Cuban cigars in a Honduran box after taking off all the bands, then sealed the box up and brought it back in checked baggage.

The above is just a rumor...;)

How bout you buy a box of Dominican cigars, take of all the wrapping and then give those to your friend... Tell him thats what you had to do to sneak them in. He thinks he's smoking cigars, and you don't have to sweat in front of the customs agents.

Oh Cathalane! That's cold! You can't do that to a good friend!

OK, maybe you can do that to a brother inlaw! :D

LMAO

Highly unlikely... I am sure they are not spending $100gs of dollars to train them for cigars.. when there are other things to worry about! LOL:)

Well never underestimate the stupid things our government would do:rolleyes:

Dominican Repuplic cigars are better anyway. The only reason people want Cubans is because they cant have them.

Well, that is apparently your opinion. However, you are correct in that most people want what they cannot have. (Remember the garden of Eden?)

But, if Cuban cigars became legal today everyone would buy them to see what all the fuss is about, then the demand would decrease but it would not go away. Cuban cigars are very good. Are they the best cigars in the world? No. No one cigar would be considered the best. There are great cigar growing regions in the Caribbean, like Nicaragua and Honduras and yes, the Dominican Republic. Even Costa Rica has some great cigars. I know what I like in a cigar when I find it. My list of favorite cigars crosses all the cigar growing/blending spectrum.

Ever wonder why there are so many different cigars in a cigar shop? Because everyone is different. There's something in there that you'll like; you just have to find it! :D

Can a dog detect the difference in the scent of a Cuban cigar vs one from the Dominican Republic?

LMAO! this is soo true!! there is NO way that a dog can determine if the cigars are cubans or from other place.

Thanks .. for making me laugh! :)

last time we sailed we were told the fine was $500 for each cuban you had and that when caught you would be taken into a room, issued a fine and then the customs folks would light them up and smoke them in front of you.

That's probably an urban myth, but I'll bet the customs guys get a lot of cigars that they have to "destroy". Oh yeah, I can just guess how they destroy them!

Anything's possible, just don't get caught! ;)
