sadie8 Posted June 5, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2009 We will have six people in our group. Does anyone know the cost of transportation to the Crane? Also can you go to the public access to get to the beach or is it better to do the pass?
Aplmac Posted June 6, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2009 We will have six people in our group. Can you go to the public access to get to the beach or is it better to do the pass? . You can use the public access to get to Crane Beach..nothing stopping you.. ..but it looks like this. See that 70-80 yds. of crabby rocks to negotiate? I hope you're young, fit and nimble! ;) The day pass to comfortably access the beach thru the resort is probably worth it, especially since you can turn it around and redeem the US$13/Bds.$25 per person you paid -in food and drink at their bar! What's to lose? The skin on your shins? ................................................. So let's say you do the day pass thing. Your day will look more like this.. and your pics...like this.. . sadie8 Posted June 6, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted June 6, 2009 You very thoroughly answered my question about the beach access and I love your photos. This looks like such a lovely place, do you have any idea about taxi rates for 6 adults? Thanks for your help.

This looks like such a lovely place, do you have any idea about taxi rates for 6 adults? Can't be of as much assistance re. taxi faressince I own and operate my own car, here on the island and so have little(no!) experience with taxi rates, other than what it costs from the Port to my house 8-10 mins. away, after I get back from a cruise! :) Bridgetown Port at 0710 hrs. . sadie8 Posted June 6, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted June 6, 2009 Your photos are fantastic. They are better than what the Crane has on their website. Caribbean Travel and Life Magazine had Winston Holder's e-mail address as a taxi service, I guess I will send him a note. Thanks for all your quick replies, very helpful!! Aplmac Posted June 7, 2009 #7 Share Posted June 7, 2009 There's no problem getting a taxi at either end of your day's journey, you know... (either at the Port -or from the Crane heading back to the Port) Just get one and GO. They're all over. .
sadie8 Posted June 10, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted June 10, 2009 Winston Holder answered my e-mail today. For our group of six people $80 for transportation to/from the Crane. For a tour that would include the Crane $25/pp. His e-mail is winholdtoursinc@yahoo.com.
CVL105 Posted June 10, 2009 #9 Share Posted June 10, 2009 . redeem the US$13/Bds.$25 per person you paid -in food and drink at their bar! . Can someone explain to me what the day pass is, where I can find more information about it, and how to purchase it? Also, "redeem" makes me think that it's All-inclusive if you buy the pass, is this true? Thanks!
einsteinsmom Posted June 13, 2009 #10 Share Posted June 13, 2009 We went to Crane in April. The day pass just gets you access to the beach through their property. It is usable at the restaurant for food and drink. The chairs and umbrellas are not for use of people with day passes. To do that, you would have to get a dayroom, when we went we were told it would be 200 US. Supposedly that was incorrect, but we have never heard otherwise from the person we spoke to at the hotel. The beach is beautiful, the kids had fun! kristy

Barb Hotel is called "The Crane resort" I don't know about a day pass as such but they allow access through the hotel to the beach, the cost of the admission is redeemable at the hotel. Yoy can spend the day at most hotels I would say, nice to ask though. Visiting a hotel for the day though isn't seeing the island up to you guys. Aplmac Posted March 11, 2010 #15 Share Posted March 11, 2010 How long is the taxi to and from Crane Resort to the port? The taxi is probably no longer than about twelve to thirteen feet long, :Dbut the trip is around 45 mins..each way.. depending on traffic in/around Bridgetown. ;) . Aplmac Posted March 11, 2010 #17 Share Posted March 11, 2010 LOL!!! Good one: ) How is the road there, if I dare ask?:D Thanks much! Barbados' roads are considerably better, wider, better-paved than Dominicaif that's what you're worried about. The road to Crane is OK, no surprises: you'll survive it with ease maybe even with style. Besides, after a few rum punches at Crane overlooking this view you won't give a damn, anyway! ;) .
