Getting to Hoonah from Icy Strait Point?

How do you get to Hoonah from Icy Strait Point cruise dock?

 

I understand that they are very close to each other.

How far of a walk? Sidewalk, safe ?

 

Do you recommend visiting Hoonah?

Is there anything we should do, or visit, while in Hoonah?

There is a shuttle bus- not sure of the price- a couple of dollars, I think. Or you can walk. It is gravel most of the way and sidewalk once you get to Hoonah. You are walking pretty close to the water for most of the walk.

Hoonah is a small town- we walked down, had an ice cream and walked back. On the way is a restaurant called the Office Bar- great reviews about their crab- unfortunately for us- crab season started the next day!

hi, you can walk or take the bus, but be sure to stop at the Office Bar, the crab on the menu is great, it aint a fancy place, but be sure you sign the guest book. Would love to go back and have the crab again.
