my wife thinks I am over budgeting but I am figuring, 9,000.00 for a 12 day cruise. we prepaid Our flights, hotel and airport parking, but we still have excursions, and time in the casino. We dont drink much but i am considering prepaying 100 dollars worth of drink tickets. Am I overdoing it.

PS We dont really buy jewelry, but want an experience that we wont forget. Thanks for input.

Well, I can say is......that would be more than I would need, but if thats what is right for YOU, then go for it. After your tips of $240 for the both of you, that leaves $730 per day to spend.

have a great time!

I certainly would have an unforgettable experience with that much cash to spend. :D But, as another poster said, if that's what you're comfortable with then go for it. If you come home with any leftover, it's literally money in the bank.

FYI, I usually budget $1200-1400 for a 7 day cruise.

$9000? Even if I was going on a 12 day European Cruise, I would take no more than $2000 (if that much). You must be rich

not really I just put 400 dollars a week away till the cruise, I want to have fun now before I get to old so I would rather spend money now. You never know when its your time to go. So before i do I want as many great experiences in life as possible..

i am not being snide or rude, but WOW if you can put $400 a week away untill the cruise then $9ooo will be living up to your expectations of what a great cruise should be. i dont make that much in one week, so i am really envious that you are able to save that much . take the money, spend as you please and have a fantastic cruise. if you bring any home it is a good start for another cruise. have a wonderful time.

for me though, i pay for my tours ahead of time along with the flight and hotel. i dont buy the pictures, or spend at the casino and only have one drink a day. i take $500 and usually bring back a few dollars. but i have to be very frugal and not buy everything i see in the shops or eat off the ship. maybe someday i can spend as much as i would like too, but for now in these times, i am just lucky to be able to get on the ship. :)

You show 14 cruises already. So you know you spending habits and your CRUISE spending habits. The past is prologue.

BUDGET, A new word, I'll have to look that up!

LOL, actually DH and I plan $200 a day. On our last Princess cruise, I took along $2000 just in case and came home with much more (I won bingo... lol). But we still didn't go thru our $2000.

Save the money and plan another cruise!!!

Amen!! I hear you loud and clear.

We just got home from a 7 day. I took 2000 cash and had the credit card should I find something I could not live without (the 2000 wasn't to include the s/s onboard).

I came home with money. :D And we had a great time!

Have a wonderful cruise.

hhm how do i even say this.. i guess the best way is to ask a question myself.... how can a person who has cruised as many cruises as you have, not know your requirements as it relates to expenses? You know how much you like to gamble, how much you like to drink, only you know the type of excursions you like to do and if you havent already been to any of the ports to which you are going, a more appropriate question would be whats the costs of excursions etc etc ( then figure out your money needs dependant upon what you are doing )

having been on that many cruises, you know the misc expenses you incur on a daily basis, you know how much shopping you like to do, and i could go on forever...

i have been on only 5 cruises, but i know what i generally spend, i then factor the ports and the excursions i do after reading this board and any other info i can find, and thus have the mathematical ability to figure our requirements.. give or take maybe cpl hundred dollars

sorry but i must also ask.. did you post this just to get a reaction? just to say hey look at me i have all this money i can spend after paying for this and that and flights and and? did you post just to draw attention? or are u truly unable to look at your past cruising habits as it relates to spending, and intelligently factor in the things that will be different this time, and come to a pretty good conclusion as to what you need..

truly, i really am asking valid questions cause i shake my head and say, how can someone not know their own answers after so many cruises.

i could understand if this came from a first time cruiser.. who really had no idea as to what is around and available to spend all that extra cash on if u wish, but from someone with such a cruise history.. sorry i write this off as a ' hey i want attention' post

I couldn't have said it better myself!!! VERY well put!!

lol and probably what others are thinking ... i dont usually react to much but sometimes a post here and there hits me as pure hogwash

now as for my post #19, i may be doing the cruises but the rest i shall continue to dream :)

Yea, and they ask "Am I overdoing it?"...if you have to ask yourself that, then you probably are. When is more than less ever an issue? Great for them to have that money to spend, but its almost a rhetorical question, really.

You have 14 cruises under your belt.....if you 'really' can't figure this out for yourself then I think you have bigger problems than this

ugh ive come across the same problem! my husband thinks i am budgeting too much.. we are doing a b2b on the miracle 16 nights in total xmas and new years.. we are not staying any time on land other than the nite prior to cruising

i have budgeted $17,000 ( figuring $1000 per day plus the one night before the cruises)

its christmas and new years and i want to give my husband something he will never forget.

This will be only our 6th and 7th cruises therefore i do not have the ability to figure this out on my own.. i figure once i get to 25 cruises I may catch on

can you tell me if you think im am overdoing it? i truly dont know and want this to be an unforgettable experience!

( ** now i shall sit and wait if i generate as much attention as you have ** ) good grief

$1000 a day are you for real? That is an amount I could not fathom spending but I guess if you gamble a lot it could be done easily. 17K is another (20) 7 day cruises for me and the wife.

Pardon the newb here, but what is "S&S"?

It is a sail and sign card. This will be a card you use for purchasing anythng on the ship.....which is either tied to your credit/debit card or cash that you put down.........

It is also will be your room key on most the ships.......

Welcome to cc by the way......
