Little things to pack?

Hey all! I'm leaving in 26 days and I wanted to start getting all the necessities for my trip. Although I've been on two cruises previously, I am having trouble remembering about the little stuff I wanted to bring. For example, today I remembered I need to buy a big pack of batteries for my camera. I also will be purchasing 2 bottles of sunscreen, but thats all I can think of. Are there any little things that you have brought on your trip to make life a bit easier? :confused:(As if that can happen on a cruise..LOL)

i pick up a couple of sample size laundry soap and some fabric softner sheets to bring. I find the boxes you can buy for $2.00 dont have enough soap and are way too expensive, the dryer sheets keep your clothes smelling good before and during use :)

 

we forgot cotton swabs one year ( Q-tips) ugggg what a pain very expensive on the ship.

I would recomend 2 way radios... On my last cruise i lost my husband on the ship and with no way to call him we looked for each other for hours... lol

Some of the ships' room safes lock and unlock with a push-button code you set yourself. But others work by sliding any card with a magnetic strip. They warn you to not use your S & S card because it could mess it up. Rather than risk messing up our credit or debit card, we always take a gift card (doesn't have to have any credit on it) like a Walmart or Starbucks giftcard to use as our key.

Just change the batteries in the camera before you go, no need to carry more with you. If you use them up you can always buy more in port. As for sunscreen, I forgot to buy some for my first cruise and had to buy a bottle on the ship. If I recall correctly it cost $10+ in 1999. I still have the bottle somewhere in the house. Well, the next time I cruised I forgot to bring the sunscreen, so now I have two bottle of the same brand of sunscreen (somewhere in the house). For our last cruise we bought the spray on type of sunscreen for us and a different type for our DS. Somewhere in the house there are four bottles of sunscreen. So don't forget the sunscreen. Also, If your going to snorkeling, stop by a Target or Wal-mart for a disposable underwater camera with flash if you can find one. Bring lots of money as well, all inclusive doesn't cover casino, ports and any extra tipping you might want to do. A clock radio with CD player or ipod with speakers. ;)

A big beverage container w/ lid. It will keep you hydrated with freedom to move away from liquid supply center. In your luggage, you can use it to contain other small things you don't want slip sliding around. :)

 

Is your camera digital? You want to be sure you have enough storage space - some cards/sticks have a HUGE capacity, but it is good to have a back up card/stick.:D

 

A scanned copy of photo page from passport is simple enough, and good idea in case the unthinkable happens.:eek:

Make sure to pack a outlet extender- there's only one outlet in your room, that way you can charge a camera, AND your wife an blowdry her hair.

We always bring our own soda and often bring a small 2 cup coffee maker so we don't have to leave our cabin first thing in the morning or wait for room service which often takes awhile.

 

Underwater cameras with flashes are also a very good idea, they are expensive in port.

 

If you are going to do any snorkeling, you might want to have your own equipment. Some of the excursions just throw them into a pile and recycle them from group to group - ugh!

Insulated travel mug, refill lemonade, ice tea, coffee, or water easily and take it with you to the pool or shows. Less likely to buy expensive drinks.

Also I always refill the water bottle with the melted down ice from the buckets in the room. That way I don't have to buy any more. Glass wipes to clean your glasses or sunglasses. The ladies razor with the shaving cream in it(forgot the name), really helped to shave our legs in the small shower.

Great idea! I would've forgotten those if you didn't mention it. I will be traveling with a party of 10 and I know how easy it is to lose people...

If you drink alcohol and tend to go a little overboard since you don't have to drive anywhere... Anti-Nausea Liquid. It works great... nothing worse then being nauseaus when a boat is moving...:)

Rather than a large pack of batteries, use rechargeable. Keep 2 sets plus a small charger and you'll save a ton in the long run - plus, it helps your carbon footprint!

1. An around the neck lanyard for your S&S card.
   
2. Bug spray.
   
3. Personal wipes to take on shore excursions...so many times I want to wash my hands and these make it easy.
   
4. A bottle of nail polish incase you need a touch up.

6. Bubble wrap (weighs nothing and fits nicely into the outside pockets or your suitcase).

One more item(s) for you. I bring six small plastic clothes pins, with small fishing sinkers glued to them. I hang these on the bottom of the shower curtain so it doesn't suck in and stick to your, uh, "self"!;)

There isn't a lot of counter space, so I have some heavy-duty suction cups to hang things up on the mirror (like S&S cards on a lanyard and the like).

you can buy batteries alright. i paid $15.00 for 4 AA batteries @ shirley heights, antigua. camera was dead, so i had too. you pay to play, dig?

 

also paid $6. for 4 AA batteries in key west. they'd been in the store so long, when i finally put them in in belize, they were dead already.

 

so bring batteries, batteries, batteries.

They are also handy for what they were made for: there is a mini clothesline in the shower and you can rinse out bathing suits or undies and hang them up.
