cruiserking Posted June 12, 2009 #6 Share Posted June 12, 2009 And I much prefer David Pepper, and his morning TV show, to Ray. I also like David Pepper very much glad to see he is still aboard the QM2. Does anyone by any chance know who the current Captain of the QM2 is? I wonder if Bernard Warner will be at the helm for our voyage this September. Thanks, Jonathan
kevankiki Posted June 12, 2009 #7 Share Posted June 12, 2009 I personally liked Martyn Moss (?) on QE2, he had a great 'sidekick' too, don't know what happened to them....

violetta58 Posted June 13, 2009 #13 Share Posted June 13, 2009 Hi We just got off the QM2 today ( Norway cruise- wonderful!!) and Alistair Greener told us that Ray Rouse would be back for the next cruise as he was getting off today. We liked Alistair but like the others too ,particularly David Pepper as he seems to interacts well with the guests. We are going on the Queen Victoria in Sept - any idea who will be the cruise director on QV?? regards Ruth and Steve
VirginCruiser II Posted June 13, 2009 #14 Share Posted June 13, 2009 Likewise we just got off QM2 this morning after a wonderful voyage to Norway. Such a shame you were not able to join us for the Cruise Critic meeting in the Commodore Club. It would have been nice to put faces to names. I also hope Ray's wife is doing better. We first met Ray when he was with the Costa line. He is a multi talented fellow and extremely adaptable. I did not know until fairly recently that he is also an accomplished dancer. He has been on all four of our QM2 voyages and we certainly hope that his wife has improved to the point that we will see him again for our short Independence trip on July 1. Last year for the Independence voyage I had told Ray that my Michael was celebrating a 40-year anniversary of coming to America from Italy. Halifax was a stop and the final destination was the exact day of our disembarkation in New York on July 8. Ray surprised us by making that announcement on his morning broadcast. It was very special and very much appreciated. Regards, Jeanne

Yes, when you learn how many things they are responsible for, it is amazing how they can work so hard and keep smiling and being personable. sw18 Posted June 14, 2009 #23 Share Posted June 14, 2009 Couldn't bear David Pepper........calling female passengers "Love" is out of place at CWC/Grills Cocktail parties...... I had heard that he had gone to P&O.......Ventura would be a good fit for him!

Regards, Jeanne I do hope David has not gone to P&O, I always him polite, friendly, there was never one time that he didnt say hello to us, he was always happy to show you places on the QM2, if you were ever late for the show, he would personally escort you to a seat through a side door so that you felt comfortable arriving a little late after chatting and eating too long, I also found that Ray was similar. As for calling ladies "love", well that is the way in many parts of the UK, PG and QG as well, I have hear many a QG saying "eh by gum" correct me if im wrong but ( I have proof) they even eat fish n chips lol. I would like have seen more of what alistaire greener could have done, maybe on the 3 week voyage in November
