Strange Question - Awesome Resort Pool?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys...

I'm working on planning our excursions on our upcoming Southern Caribbean cruise. We have 3 kids under 8 and all of them love swimming.

We plan on doing several beach days, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend a resort on one of the islands that had an amazing pool that we could plan getting a day pass to for one of our port excursions?

I'd love any help you guys can offer based on your experiences. We'll be visiting St. Thomas, Barbados, Antigua, St. Lucia, St. Kitts & Dominica.

Thanks so much!

Robin

Hey there!

Thanks for replying! I have done both :) The Caribbean - Other forum is pretty slow and since there are lots of experienced Victory cruisers here in the Carnival forum, I thought posting once here would be preferrable to posting sep. in every port forum for help.

I've tried searching pools down there and haven't come up with much in the ports we're visiting. Figured it couldnt hurt to ask for first hand experiences.

Check to see if there are any Beaches Resorts on those islands. I known Antigua has a Sandals that is for couples only that was fantastic (they also run Beaches). My friend and I were able to buy day passes to this all-inclusive resort for $100 each and it was well worth it. The food was much better than expected and they even offered us a courtesy room if we wanted to shower and change before leaving for the day.

Hi Robin!

I would recommend Grand Pineapple Beach in Antigua. I know the resort very well due to my profession. It is owned by the Sandals Corporation and is a family all-inclusive resort. They have a great resort pool there and I think your kids would enjoy it. Let me know if you need any other info. Enjoy your cruise!

Robin,

You can't go wrong with either choice for what you are utlizing it for. I prefer (and send more clients) Grand Pineapple Beach. The beach location is fantastic...the large pool is very nice...but honestly, if Jolly prices out cheaper for a day pass I would go there. You and your family will enjoy either one!

While not a beach resort I do have a suggestion for St. Thomas, if you would like a beautiful beach day. Take the water ferry over to St. John and then take a taxi to Cinnimon Bay. It is beautiful. If you go to the state park area there are rest rooms, a small store and rest. It is amazing and so quite. Perfect for kids. The water ferry will run you about 50 bucks round trip for the family and the the taxi there and back another 50 for the family.

Thanks for the suggestion Kevin! I had actually looked at Grand Pineapple in Antigua! How do you think it compares to Jolly Beach resort for kids?

Appreciate the advice :)

We have done the Sandals in St Lucia-- we did the Grand Sandals, which is the resort with the Rondoval rooms. Very, very nice-- but have to tell you, for the length of time cabbing over, I'd do the Sandals closer to the port next time. Nothing wrong with the Sandals, nothing at all, just a hike to get there.

Grand Pineapple has a FABULOUS beach, and the pool area is very nice as well. Day passes for the above @90.00 per person.

Similar rates at the Marriott St. Kitts-- GREAT pool area, small casino, beautiful beach-- and $30.00 aloe massage right on the beach.

Have fun!
