Renting Car in Fairbanks

We are currently on our Princess Cruisetour and off to Denali tomorrow. Princess has been wonderful so far. Thanks Budget Queen for your advice on renting cars in Fairbanks and Vancouver (DH got to see Sapphire before we board her on Saturday). We came an extra day early in Fairbanks and rented a car through Hotwire for one day. Best thing we did. Princess charges $5 for round trip to town. There really isn't much to do there. We went all over the place. With a car we went to Large Animal Research Center, Reindeer farm, Museum of the North on our own, Ice Museum (Interesting), Lemongrass Thai Restaurant (terrific). Dropped the car off at the airport and Princess came pretty quick to take us back to lodge. Of course the weather has been picture perfect.

Yes, this is always my recommendation, it takes such little effort and you get a full day of extra touring for pretty low costs. :) Glad it worked out for you with my Fairbanks "list". :)

On Sept. 9 we are also arriving a day early like you did. How much is a one day rental? What hotel did you stay at?? I was looking in to booking my own hotel for our early day in Fairbanks, Princess wants $199. Looking for ideas.

If you know the hotel you will be staying at for your cruisetour, call them directly and book with them. That's what we are doing for our HAL cruisetour and are in the same hotel for around $100 for the extra night and they will link us with our cruisetour reservation.
