Transportion Port of Vancouver - Victoria - Seattle

Recommended Posts

We are disembarking our cruise at Vancouver on the morning of Wednesday, August 5th. We need to travel from there to Victoria, where we are spending Wednesday night. On Thursday we need to travel from Victoria to Seattle, where we are spending Thursday and Friday nights. Our flight leaves from the Seattle airport on Saturday the 8th.

Does anyone have recommendations how how best to accomplish this? We were looking at renting a car from the port to the airport, but the rental fee plus the fees for the car ferry seem cost prohibitive. We're wondering whether it's possible to do this using public transportation, shuttles, etc. without too much hassle.

Thanks in advance for any help.

My suggestion would be to use Pacific Coachlines from Vancouver to Victoria - you can use public transport but a very big hassle and time consuming with several changes.

Then to get from Victoria to Seattle check out the Seattle Clipper (hope I got the name correct - I know it is the Clipper) a walk on ferry from Victoira inner harbor to Seattle - in the summer it ususally does 2 runs a day and goes to downtown Seattle.

Vancouver -> Victoria by transit is pretty straightforward, I've done it many many times. From Canada Place walk a couple of blocks to Burrard and Pender and catch the #601 LADNER bus. At Ladner you switch to the #620 Tsawwassen bus which drops you at the ferry (total $5). Walk on the ferry ($13.50). On the Victoria side, the #70 downtown ($2.25) goes straight from the ferry terminal to downtown (and it's a double decker generally, if you've never riden one).

Now, Victoria -> Seattle there are more limited options.

The clipper fast ferry: http://www.clippervacations.com/

Kenmore air floatplanes: http://www.kenmoreair.com/

or fly from Victoria airport to Seatac airport on Horizon (Alaska) Air: http://www.alaskaair.com/
