elkruiser Posted June 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2009 Is smoking allowed on all balconies or only on one side of the ship? If so which side. I would hate for DH to be unhappy if he can't grab a quick smoke with his coffee in the morning.
m steve Posted June 28, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 28, 2009 That's one reason we sail with P. X lost us as passengers with their rediculous policy. Micky knows how to keep the ships fully booked.
sunsetbeachgal Posted June 28, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 28, 2009 Unless I am mistaken, it is allowed on balconies on both sides. In the public areas there are designated spots outside for smoking-I think they are on the Port (left) side of the ship.

I think that 'No Smoking on' on balconies would be great. Smokers do not understand the hardships that they place on fellow passengers who pay the same money for a balcony that they can't use!!!! john

Smokers do not understand the hardships that they place on fellow passengers who pay the same money for a balcony that they can't use!!!! john Our second time doing a full transit through the Panama Canal, we had to stay off our balcony and keep the door closed due to the excessive smoking of at least 6 people (2 people + their guest) in the cabin next to us and all the smoke was drifting into our room......I am allergic to smoke! (it was the only cabin I have been on that we heard the smokers cough all night long too! I am also offended by finding ash all over our table and chairs on OUR balcony when their are smokers above our balcony flicking their ashes! Poulsbo Cruisers Posted June 28, 2009 #7 Share Posted June 28, 2009 I think that 'No Smoking on' on balconies would be great. Smokers do not understand the hardships that they place on fellow passengers who pay the same money for a balcony that they can't use!!!! john Smoking is allowed in all cabins and on all balconies. It is allowed in some public areas in designated areas on the port side of the ship. It is allowed on outside decks on the port side of the ship. It is not allowed in any dining venue unless you are eating in your cabin or balcony. There is no need to start this into a smoker versus non smoker post. The Princess policy on smoking is the Princess policy. We can choose to cruise Princess knowing that policy or we can opt for a different cruise line if the policy is a deal breaker. I understand both sides of this issue and I understand that some people have strong opinions on either side. However, this issue has been discussed many times on this board and it only leads to hard feelings if we go beyond just answering the question. I don't want to turn this into a non-smoker vs. smokers debate but I do sympathize with you about your cruise. We weren't able to enjoy our last balcony either due to the people next door packing their balcony with as many people as could stand there. They were extremely loud and continuously smoked pungent cigars. People just need to be courteous to other guests.
Caribensun Posted June 28, 2009 #10 Share Posted June 28, 2009 I do agree with everyone else that smoking should not be on balconies or rooms. We will go Celebrity after next cruise even stockholders don't like it.
mjdgarth Posted June 28, 2009 #11 Share Posted June 28, 2009 Smoking is allowed on your balconies, in the casino(not formal night) first 8 tables port side on deck 14. Also in Churchhills bar. All the complaining about smokers, you would think that the non smokers could sit at different tables other than the 8 tables for the smokers. Don't stand there and cough and hack.... go to one of the other 14 decks that are non smoking. Just my smoking comments.

hubofhockey Posted June 28, 2009 #15 Share Posted June 28, 2009 We have always had a balcony and have never had a problem with smokers. I think smoking (and clean air) is a greater problem on Carnival. Maybe I was just lucky with my balcony this time because I was at the end. But it is another good reason for getting a 100% covered balcony.
