Rare Gail & Marty sailing away Posted June 29, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2009 Just had surgery on June 10th, need to recoup for 6 weeks and can not lift anything over 10 lbs. So what do you do when you are starting to feel better? You jump on the Valor for a b2b! We think it's better than going to a rehab - this way the patient & spouse can be together and they both need the vacation! :):):)

Rare Essiesmom Posted June 29, 2009 #6 Share Posted June 29, 2009 On my B2B Splendor cruise, on of my tablemates first week had had one knee replaced in March, the other in April. Was doing rehab in a nursing home (she is single) and getting very depressed. She asked her doc if she could go home, and he said 'only if you have someone to cook your meals, make your bed, and a place to exercise'. She told him she knew just where to go, and booked about six cruises back to back. she had been on one before Splendor, did Mariner of the Seas the next week, did a shorter Elation cruise...Don't know if she is home yet! Nursing home was costing $219/day...all cruises were less expensive - but you can't convince insurance to pay for them...EM

bleuiz Posted June 29, 2009 #9 Share Posted June 29, 2009 Last June hubby had his first hip replacement (had his 2nd in March)....the doc WOULD NOT allow him to go on a cruise until the 6 weeks were up (he did spend 1 week in rehab).......then we went from NY to Canada for the 3rd time..... The only thing he had a little trouble with was the muster drill.....we informed the pursor about possible stairs problems....but they were great, escorting us on the elevator.... It was a great way to recoup.....he did a little too much walking in St. John, so in Halifax, we took a horsedrawn carriage tour.....when it came time to walk through the park, they allowed us to stay on the carriage.... He certainly enjoyed the cruise as a way to 'get on his feet'.......
