Sleeping 3rd and fourth in balcony room

For a balcony room that sleeps four people on the Ruby, how does this work? Is there a sofa bed that pulls out or do they go about the set up differently?

Afraid there will be no sofa bed in a balcony stateroom on the Ruby. You would have to go into a mini suite for a sofa bed. Balcony staterooms are more or less just a bedroom (no actual sitting area, sofa or loveseat) with small bath and tiny shower. Sleeping will be in the form of two twins on the bottom, and two bunks that pull out of the ceiling or wall.

Don't know for sure but often the bunks flip down from the wall. We had a sofa bed on the Island and it was not suitable, so we had the room steward bring in a single mattress which he put on top of the set up sofa bed. He stood it in the corner during the day. Worked very well compared to the sofa. Don't hesitate to ask for accomodation if you have a problem. They are ready to help.

You must have been in a mini suite and not a balcony stateroom if you had a sofa bed in your stateroom?

Yes it was a mini suite. Plenty of room to stand the mattress next to the balcony wall and sofa. Never got in the way.

Only the small Princess ships (Pacific, Royal and Tahitian/Ocean) have a sofa bed in the balcony cabins.

On the larger ships (not the small ones such as the Tahitian/Ocean, Royal, Pacific, etc), the link provided that shows the set up will be the same throughout. Although it has been reported there are a few balcony stateroom quads which are set up a bit differently. 4 twin beds/bunks only, and no way to push the bottom two into a queen as the archway to enter the stateroom doesn't allow it. But for the life of me, I can't remember which ships these have been reportedly been on. Hopefully, someone else can remember, but I know there were at least two ships that reported some of these very strange, and uncomfortable configurations.
