Bottom Bay Beach

I have seen several pictures of Bottom Bay Beach (the latest being in June/July issue of Caribbean Travel) and it looks like the perfect place to go. However, I don't find any mention of it on the Boards. Is there something the pictures don't show?

The pictures don't show the remoteness of it(by island standards, that is).

It's not along the average tourist path, although not impossible to find.

It's not near a hotel or any other public infrastructure

so transport to and from it, is entirely up to you.

If you catch a taxi there, you most definitely have to keep him waiting on you

or make definite arrangement for him to come pick you back up at a pre-arranged time

-or you'll be stuck.

That's pretty much the gist of it -accessibility and where/how to find it

Oh: 45 minutes by car/ taxi from the pier to Bottom Bay.

How much? Haven't a clue. -$40 one way??

Thanks aplmac.

Guess I will live with the pictures and experience Crane first hand.

If you're going to The Crane anyway...the thing is...Crane is not that far away!

You might consider making Crane 'Your Day'

and during that day catch yourself a Crane taxi to pop you up there(about 2 mi. away?)

to have a look, spend 15 mins. taking some shots from the cliff overlooking the bay

- and then he brings you back to the Crane. Take you 45 mins. all told?

Bottom Bay is like 5-6 small bays further up the coast, that's all.

I was in Barbados on the QM2 in January. My husband and I booked Blue Trident Tours on a private tour. I was basically allowed to make my own tour. We went to Bottom Bay, Harrismith Beach, Crane Beach, and the Four Square Rum Factory. All of the beaches were wonderful and are fairly close to each other. I was able to get into the water at Crane because it was fairly calm on the day I was there. Harrismith was rocky so I did not go in the water. Bottom Bay had huge waves so I only went in upto my knees. The only beach with facilities was Crane Beach with the hotel at the top of the cliff. Bottom Bay had one other couple on the beach, while Harrismith was deserted. Blue Trident Tours was a good company. They were early to meet us and picked us up in a fairly new Mercedes with cool drinks available. The tour was scheduled to be 4 hours but it bsically lasted 5 hours with no extra charge.

Aplmac, is it true that a one show of "The Batchelor" was filmed at Harrismith Beach?

One episode did have some bits filmed here on the island..yes!

Wife recalls glimpses of our local Hilton Hotel, and various pastoral scenes

so it's not impossible that any beach scene may have been shot at Harrismith..
