Admiralty Island -bears -late July

We are considering a float plane trip to Admiralty island to see brown bears. It is expensive -- and before we commit to this, I would like some first hand reports. We have a choice of a guided trip -- but not to the official park viewing area, but another location on the island -- or a drop off unguided trip.

 

We really want to see the bears, and it seems that our trip date is a plus.

 

Any thoughts??

For this trip, I think the best option is to go unguided and have the permits for the viewing platform access, which is noted for consistant sightings. Key will be timeframe you are going, which I suggest you verify the stats direct with the vendor and the Pack Creek web site.
