Does anyone know how far it is from the port in Hong Kong to the airport HKG? Any suggestions on transportation? Also how far from the Singapore aiport to cruise port and transportation. We are trying to figure if we want to do this on our own or use the Azamara tranfers. Thanks.

The new Hong Kong airport is quite a distance from HK. It is located on an island several miles from downtown. We have had our hotel arrange a car to take us to the airport, but I believe there is also a connection using the subway at a much cheaper cost. Do you know where the ship will dock? We docked within walking distance of The Penn. Hotel in Kowloon.

Thanks for answering. Not sure where they dock. Our flight will be early in the morning so we need a hotel for a night. I found the Regal Hotel right at the airport so we will probably just take Azamara's airport transfers. Thanks

There are two possible ports at Hong Kong that I know of: the Ocean Terminal in Kowloon and another at Kennedy Town on Hong Kong Island. From the Ocean Terminal it is easy to use the Airport Express (see www.hongkongextras.com website for details), but Kennedy Town would require a taxi or cruise ship's transport of somekind.

When we sailed from HK to Singapore in January, the terminal at Kennedy Town was used. Apparently Azamara, being new to HK, had been unable to make berthing arrangements for the Ocean Terminal. Things could be different for the new season, and only Azamara will be able to answer your question.

then consider the Salisbury Hotel (next to the Penninsula Hotel)..it's the YMCA!...very reasonable great views if you get a harbor view room. Decent hotel for the price. The shuttle from the MTR stops outside the door, so you can metro from the airport to Kowloon Station and shuttle to the hotel (or taxi) very cheaply. The Ocean terminal is about two long blocks, but I'd taxi as is could be confusing! There are many other hotels nearby as well. (But The salisbury is the most for the buck...) We've stayed there twice. Very convenient to all transport, Star Ferry, metro, buses etc. Even a decent restaurant....plus admission to the usual YMCA sports facility. The only downside...the smell of pool chlorine as you enter the lobby (no where else) and lack of extreme luxury...just well equipped, safe, clean rooms.

AZ wasn't at Ocean terminal this year but apparently they are trying to get there next year BUT!!!! Star cruises owns the Ocean terminal and therefore gets first choice even if current bookings show the AZ there. (By the way google the Ocean Terminal and check the bookings - there is a link and if you cannot find the AZ then you will definately not be at the Ocean terminal)

If you have been to HK before and have a very early flight you might want to look at the Marriott Sky city out at the airport - very nice. If however you have never been to HK then stay in the city which side doesn't really matter because the ferry is cheap and easy to use for hopping back and forword and splurge on a Taxi to the airport in the morning. From Kowloon to and from the airport they were 380,- HK$ per oneway trip this year in March.
