Looking for cruise with Spain ports of call

Recommended Posts

Help! We haven't seen much of Spain and are looking for a cruise that would have mainly ports of call in Spain, possibly Portugal, even Belgium. We've done quite a few cruises in Europe and know that there could be some overlap but would like to find something that has mainly Spain. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure where you want to cruise from, or for how long, but you might want to consider cruises from Southampton (UK) with P&O, Cunard, Princess and RCI. All of these lines do 14 night cruises frm there that get into the Med, often extending to Italy, but including several Spanish ports (Barcelona is a staple, but Palma, Valencia, Malaga, & Cadiz also appear), and usually at least two calls along the atlantic coast of Iberia, e.g. Lisbon or Vigo.

P&O do these cruises on several ships, but especially on Ventura and Oceana, and Cunard use Queen Victoria. Princess have Grand Princess and RCI have Independence of the Seas, both out of Southampton, and next year Celebrity will base Eclipse, their third Solstice-class, in Southampton for the summer.

Many of the cruiselines have a cruise that's almost like a repositioning cruise, to move the ships from the Med to the Baltic and vice versa. We did one that was Monte Carlo to Dover, and loved it. We had 3 stops in Spain, plus Lisbon and several stops in France.

We took the NCL cruise "Exotic Med." on the Gem for 12 days. One of the best trips ever beginning and ending in Barcelona, with stops at Cadiz, Malaga, and a couple of the Canary Islands (Spain), Agidar, Morroco and Lisbon, Portugal. We also stopped at Gibralter (UK) and Majorica. If they don't have this same ititenery they should offer it again --- easy trips to mainland from the ports and wonderful sites. The Canary Islands are unbelievable, Seville was so interesting and it was very worth while.

Hope this helps.

Ruth ;)

Crystal has a cruise leaving Nov. 1 that goes from Barcelona to Lisbon. There are several Spanish ports as well as Morocco, the Canary Islands and Lisbon. We will be on that cruise. It might be what you are looking for.

Hi DanaPoint1 -- We're going to be on that cruise, too. Have you made any decisions yet about excursions or what to do in any of the ports? I'm just beginning to do some research, and any help at all would be much appreciated! (PSs, we also live in So Cal and have a condo next door to you, in San Clemente.)
