The 1st one is when does the 24hr room service start on the 1st day? We have a late dinner seating, plan on being on board around 1130a and grabbing lunch but may need a snack (and a nap lol) before dinner....

2nd question: how long is the welcome aboard show?

thanks Jill

The welcome aboard show is only about 45 minutes, less than an hour.

We couldnt even get to our cabins until 1:30 the last couple of cruises, so you probably will have to wait for room service and check out the buffet. Sur Mer was open when we boarded though, if your ship has that, not sure what ship you will be on. Mongolian BBQ was open and the deli, so you wouldnt go hungry.

Immediately after you board, the best food options are the dining room for lunch, while it is open (narrow window) and the buffet.

There is the lifeboat drill which occurs prior to sailing and prior to that, all guest services cease.

Also, the brief time the ship is docked, prior to the lifeboat drill, is the *only* time the crew will have to get off the boat and attend to business in the US. As you can imagine, the ship's staff is not at its peak at this time.

So, room service is probably not a good idea before you set sail. After that, it's a great option.
