Ninjachyck Posted July 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2009 We are arriving in Fort Lauderdale the day before our departure from Port Everglades (this is the first time ever we're arriving the day before!) and staying at the Hyatt Pier 66 :D Can anyone suggest a good restaurant or some decent nightlife in the area? And any shops/places we should try to see in that short stay? Thanks!
royalcruz Posted July 9, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2009 I would suggest that you go to Las Olas Blvd...most of the restaurants are good and there are lots of choices. There is live music at Mangos and Smith & Jones after about 9:30 PM (they are moderately priced bars/restaurants). You will find everything from very upscale to moderate on Las Olas, from around SE 3rd Ave to SE 15th Ave. Dress nice but not fancy. There are also boutiques and galleries to shop in, and many stay open until 8 or 9. It is only about 3 miles from your hotel. There is also an area a few blocks west of there on SE 2nd St and at Las Olas Riverfront that is more casual and that gets a younger crowd after 11. There are restaurants for early evening and clubs for late evening. The after 10 PM crowd is a bit rough for my taste. Another choice would be to go to A1A, the good old Fort Lauderdale strip. There are about a dozen restaurants, some live entertainment, some clubs after 11. Dress is very casual, and the crowd gets younger as it gets later. I don't go there late, as there too many drunk rowdy people. There are lots of restaurants and drug/grocery/wine stores on SE 17th St not far from your hotel, but not real shopping or nightlife. If it's rainy, there is a very nice mall, the Galleria Mall on Sunrise Blvd. You can go straight there on the 40 bus from across the street from your hotel. There are nice restaurants there too. Enjoy your visit.
BlueHerons Posted July 9, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 9, 2009 I agree with going to Las Olas. Lots of fun, you can have dinner and the nightlife starts around 9PM.
kescott98 Posted July 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 9, 2009 I also recommend Las Olas Blvd, you could also go to the riverwalk.
