New Captain on the Golden Princess.

Just got back from the July 4-11 sailing of the Golden Princess and just wanted to report that Capt. John Foster left the ship for a vacation and was replaced be Capt. Nicolo Binetti. The cruise was wonderful, and we even broke 90 degrees 2 days in a row!

Wonder how long the new Captain will stay with the Golden, or for that matter, if there is a "usual" length of time a Captain stays on a ship..

We sail on her in 8 months, and are hoping that a Captain that we had on a Princess ship a couple of years ago would NOT captain the Golden when we go on her.

Thanks for the info...... We go in two weeks and I don't want 90 degrees. We're coming from Texas w/ 105 temps!

Why not? Did he drive too fast? Forget to use his turn signal? Wear shorts on formal night? Come on, dish!

The man had a fear of docking!!! Yeah, I know that sounds weird, but we were on a 14 day cruise with 9 ports plus Princess Cays, and he cancelled Princess Cays AND 3 ports. He claimed conditions were unsafe for docking. However, the weather was great, and there were one or more other cruise ships already docked in all those ports, because we got close enough to see them.

Interestingly, rumor around the ship, purportedly info from a crew member, had it that this particular Captain, who shall remain nameless, had had a few too-close encounters with piers while docking in the past and had banged up more than one ship. We all wondered why Princess still allowed him to sail their ships. Princess did do the right thing and gave everybody a $150 shipboard credit. Nice gesture, but it didn't make up for missing that many ports.

We had recently heard that he was on the Golden, but if so, is apparently no longer on there.

We also had some foggy days, and juneau was drizzly with cloudy skies,We saw eagles and spouting whales, and white seal, beautiful scenery,Was a good cruise, and we thought the capt did a good job of keeping us informed, and did a good job handeling the ship, barely knew he was using bow thrusters, when docking:));)
