bcd2010 Posted July 12, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2009 Recently there was a thread about travel irons (which I wouldn't bring -- in fact I can't remember the last time I used an iron!). It made wonder whether the ban applies to hair curling irons. I think they don't get as hot as clothes irons, but just want to check it out. Anyone know if they're okay to bring? nocheckedbags Posted July 12, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2009 I always bring a curling iron. It is great to get minor wrinkles out of clothes too. A little water on the wrinkle and a hot curling iron and it looks good enough.
Candy Posted July 12, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 12, 2009 You can certainly take your curling iron. The outlet in the bathroom is for shavers only, so you must use the one by the desk (or dressing room). When I'm done, I leave it on the floor under the bathroom sink so the cabin steward won't accidentally burn himself on it while cleaning.

I always turn mine off and just leave it on the desk. From now on, I'm putting it in a place where my steward won't be accidentally burned. I've done that to myself and it's not pretty. bcd2010 Posted July 12, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted July 12, 2009 Thanks for letting me know. I have a heat proof "sleeve" that goes over the cruling iron. It's designed so you don't have to wait for the iron to cool before you pack it (on that last day when you're rushed). I'll be sure to use that all the time so the steward won't get burned. Anticipating the next question, I don't know if I can name the company where I got mine ("ding dong, ---- calling") and it was several years ago anyway, they don't carry it anymore. Maybe you can find them at hair products supply stores or travel stores.
esther e Posted July 12, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 12, 2009 I bought mine from Magellans on line. Not sure if they still carry them, but I bet they do.
