Canada in September

Recommended Posts

We will be in Canada the first part of

September. I looked at reports from last year and a lot of ports were missed because of Renments of Hurricanes. I was wondering if it is usually wet the first of September. I know layers of clothing are in order but I was wondering if shorts are probably silly to even pack. The less stuff we need the better off will be. Thank you Donna

September is usually a very nice month and is usually fairly sunny. The mornings can be cool but it should warm up to low 70's. :D

That being said, sometimes a hurricane can be going by and then it will be warm, but wet and windy.

Were you talking Western Canada (Alaska cruises) or Eastern Canada?

Since you mentioned hurricanes, I am assuming you mean the east coast.

September is one of our nicest months. The weather is still warm and most of the humidity and fog of the summer months is behind us. The mornings will be crisp and sunny but the days quickly warm up and people are still wearing shorts and sandals.

When we experience the remnants of a hurricane the weather is very warm and balmy----but miserable.

If you run into ordinary rainy weather the weather will be much cooler--in the low 60's. This is Maritime Canada and you have to be prepared for anything----sometimes all in the same day. In any event it will be cold on deck at sea and the ports will be cool after six in the evening. It cools down very quickly.

I guess my best advice is be prepared to layer your clothing so you will be warm in the morning and be able to peel off as the day warms up or as you move from locale to locale. I just live three miles from the port area and I can leave my house in bare arms but by the time I get out of the car uptown I need a jacket or sweater.

Being from Arizona, you won't need shorts at all. The weather will feel refreshing and the air clear. Pure pleasure for me!

Visiting Eastern Canada after a long hot summer is wonderful. Absolutely wonderful! I don't care if it rains and the wind blows.

We did the 7 day Canada/New England in September 2006. The weather wasn't that cool but we had days, Saint John and Halifax that we started the day in a sweat shirt but took it off by noon. Saint John started out rainy and foggy but cleared by noon.

I'm glad to hear that the days will get milder in September. We'll be visiting Eastern Canada in early Sept on the NCL Majesty. I'm a warm weather person so I was hoping that it would not be too cool during our visit. I can layer.

Hey Bojangles, I love that screen name. We've had about 10 pet rabbits and our very first one, 35 years ago, was named Bojangles. Oh and by the way name is Donna too, how about that.
