What to do while waiting for flight

We don't leave FLL until 5:25 p.m. We were thinking of doing an Everglades airboat ride and found a company to pick us up at POM, take us on the tour, and then too FLL. Now, after reading posts, I think we may be miserable doing this since it will be August.

Any other suggestions on what to do? Should we do the Miami tour with the ship and then transfer or something else? Any recommendations are appreciated!!

Friends of mine took the Miami Beach tour, they loved it. Went to South Beach, the weather was not so great but they did like it. The bus dropped off people at the Miami airport and then went to the Ft. Lauderdale airport.

Remember an airboat ride is a thrill, it might be something you don't want to miss. Yes it will be hot, and there are mosquitos, bring bug spray. The Everglades is a big attraction.

What about going to one of the South Beach hotels like The Raleigh and get a day pool pass? They will hold you luggage, you'll have a place to change, have lunch by the pool and board your plane relaxed and refreshed.

The other idea is to rent car and head to Las Olas. Park the car and walk around Las Olas, have lunch outdoors, then ride the water taxi all over town.

We have done both of these and liked both(although it was not Aug.). We had tour of South Beach and shopping time and lunch. We also went to the beach during this time just to say we were there. Airboats were fun - saw some gators close up but it was in Jan. and not too hot and no bugs.
