Just back from cruise on Wind Star

Had a great time last week from Venice to Athens via Croatia. Any questions?

I would love to hear more details about the overall Windstar experience. I'm sailing on WIND STAR on 8/22. This will be my first time on Windstar.

A couple questions -

I know the ship is over 20 years old. How does it look? Is it in good shape?

What kind of entertainment is there at night? Any dancing or a band?

How often are the sails actually in use?

Did you use the water sports platform?

My partner is prone to motion sickness. When under sail is the rocking or heel really noticeable?

Is it mostly American's or a mix of nationalities?

How is the food and service?

Sorry for all the questions and thank you!!

Hi Ernie,

This was our second Windstar experience, first on the Star. The ship does not have any sign of being over 20 years old. Recent bathroom upgrades are evident.

In the evenings in the Lounge there is a very entertaining singer/keyboard player with dancing. If you are looking for the large Vegas shows, this is the wrong cruise line.

Sails are in use when the wind allows. Would say they were up more than 2/3 the cruise.

Loved the sports platform. Only available when you are not docked at a pier. On my criuise that was 3 times. Swimming, water skiing, kayaking, etc. Also, there is 30-45 minute power boat sightseeing activity that I really enjoyed.

We were never more than 30 minutes from shore at any time, so it was very smooth; no motion sickness at all.

Most are Americans, but many Europeans and South Americans.

Food was service is top notch.

Any other questions, feel free to ask.

Enjoy!

Glenn,

Thanks for the great information. I really can't wait to experience Windstar. I certainly didn't expect any Las Vegas shows, but I was just wondering if there was a small band or a piano bar for some evening music. Thanks for answering that.
