maltoose181 Posted July 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2009 We are planning to drive to Emerald Lake. Is it worth going the extra distance to go to Whitehorse?
Markanddonna Posted July 29, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2009 We followed Murray's Guide and their suggestion was that the trip any further north would perhaps not be worth it. I understand most people who are visiting either by tour company or rental car stop at Emerald Lake and turn back around for Skagway.
Yukon Posted July 29, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2009 Unless you have a specific focus (such as seeing the sternwheeler), have been to Skagway a few times, or just like driving, I don't recommend continuing on to Whitehorse. The scenery is quite dull compared to what you've seen up to Emerald Lake, and there's lots to do to fill a day between Skagway and Carcross. queenoftravel Posted July 29, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2009 Any suggestions for extra activities along the way? We have done the drive before and are looking for some other things to do along the way this time. Not really interested in seeing the dogs since we have done that already. Any help would be great Thanks
Yukon Posted July 29, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 29, 2009 Any suggestions for extra activities along the way? It depends on what interests you - a hiker could spend a month on that route, but there are very few man-made attractions. Of the 90+ excursions at Skagway, many can be duplicated on your own.
