"LIVE" from Freedom of the Seas / Aug 2, 2009

Dear Pete,

The departure time is 4:30pm, if I am not mistaken. Having sailed on the FREEDOM OTS in May, we arrived at the port at 11:30 AM and were processed through in less than 30 minutes...our cabin awaiting us. A word of note by most cruise lines suggests strongly to please be certain to be onboard NO LATER than 1.5 hours before sailing time.

I would surely hate to hear of anyone missing their cruise because the cruise line terminal refused them by being too late. It nearly happened to us in Norfolk, due to a traffic accident enroute, delaying our plans. Whew!

Ah, the good ol' Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel. Go through that tube daily. On more than one occassion, it has made me late to an event.

Thanks for keeping us updated Radio! And that is probably the first time I've seen a picture of the boxing room actually being used. Wonder if they will keep one on Oasis or not?

I will post a few more . . . Look for them later in the week.

Thanks for the nice comments.

I have followed a number of your "Live" threads. They are all so great. I always recommend them to anyone cruising. I folled your "Live from the Miracle" last year and then we went on the Miracle. We cruise with our grand children on the Monarch of the Seas soon. I want to book FOS soon.

We ate breakfast with a lady on LOS that was very exercise conscious. I think she said she even has a trainer and boxes at home. But she said no one used the boxing ring because you had to pay. It wasn't like the flowrider where there were private lessons and you paid, you have to pay everytime and she seemed to make it sound like it was very expensive. SHe said it was a waste of space.

I hope they keep the boxing ring and boxing bag for the Oasis. Looks really cool, and that picture made it look like those folks were having a great time and getting a great workout! The oasis is going to be so huge, I doubt a boxing ring will make a dent. Keep it!

Radio, You might have missed my last question as we posted within a few minutes of each other. I asked that didn' t you stay in one of the port motels that allows you to park your car there for free for the week and yet I read you drove to the pier and parked your car there for the $105. Why did you do that? Most people stay at those close by motels for that free parking and free shuttles to the pier.

Good Morning. . . Yes I drove to the Garage. There are many passengers I talked to that stayed at the same hotel, or another close hotel like Marriott, or Radisson. It seems that they too are not fans of the shuttle.

It's something like being able to go when you want to go, and leave when you want. . .without waiting.

I hope you like the "LIVE" from the Freedom of the Seas report. . .

More updates will be coming soon. . .

We are 17nm from Labadee. . . :D No sun yet. . .

Radio, again a marvelous job and start to your (our?) cruise .... I loved the pics of the sailaway, the cut and the one of the casino (more please?)

and again as i always ask.. would you be so kind as to take some pics of the staff? it always gives us someone or something to look forward to and meeting when onboard. Along with the ship and the ports, some of the most memorable points of our cruise have been the staff we've met and made friends with. Have a great day in Labadee and will check in later

Woo Hoo Good morning Ms Toad!!!!!!!

Hello everyone. . .Welcome to Labadee, Haiti. We arrived this morning at about 730AM. We were tied up to the mooring anchors at 8AM.

They have already sent over the first tender. I am sure most of you know who have been here that the names of the Tenders in Labadee are “Nina”, “Pinta” and “Santa Maria” Nice. . . I plan to head over at about 1030.

The weather again today looks very promising. The forecast for today is sunny, and hot.(93F) There will be a few clouds, and a small chance of showers later this afternoon. We must be back on the last tender at 415PM.

I want to find out details of the construction going on in Labadee, so I will report what I find. I want to find out also about the Labadee Bobsled opening date.

Several Crew members have suggested that the Pier will be ready in time for the Oasis Inaugural in December. The Labadee “Special” cruise will be a 4 night only Cruise.

I will try to find out as much info that I can today. . . Here are a few Pics from this morning. More pics later today !
