pirate007 Posted December 27, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2004 I am taking my first cruise in almost 15 years and was convincd to take a Rad. Crusie / Diamond later in Jan. I have beeb reading that the ship is /was in need of an update as once a star now "dated" wit th mechanical issues, A/C etc due to age. Today I read it has been sold- so why will Rad. spend a nickel? Have they updated this vessel or not?
Wendy The Wanderer Posted December 27, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2004 I was on this ship in June, and it was in very nice condition. I saw no real maintenance issues anywhere, everything was beautiful.
jhp Posted December 27, 2004 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2004 I was on the Diamond in August and everything looked ship-shape to me. This ship, of course, is older than the larger ships, so you expect a little more wear on the furnishings. When I was on her in January of 2004, the Staff Captain told me that they were getting ready to do some recarpeting, but not sure where. Although the Diamond is not my favorite of all the ships (because of the size of the balcony cabins), I do not hesitate to cruise on her, and have done so 3 times because the itinerary and pricing were right for me. English Voyager Posted December 28, 2004 #4 Share Posted December 28, 2004 We were on the Diamond in late September, and it was in excellent condition. The interior storage space in the entry level suites, imo, is certainly superior to that in the comparable Seabourn suites.
petlover Posted December 29, 2004 #5 Share Posted December 29, 2004 Like the others, I didn't see any problems with the Diamond. The cabins are smaller than the newer ships (no walk-in closet) but I really love that ship and I think the dining room is the best of all the Radisson ships. jhp Posted December 30, 2004 #6 Share Posted December 30, 2004 I, too, am a Diamond lover! Especially love the dining rooms!
JanMD Posted December 30, 2004 #7 Share Posted December 30, 2004 We were on the Diamond in the Med the end of May and the a/c worked fine and it is a beautiful ship. Yes, the cabins are smaller. But, you know that ahead of time. The dinning room is just beautiful! Jan
