nseagirl Posted August 7, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2009 I just have to ask...am I the only one foolish enough to book a cruise out of Miami for Feb. 8th, flying in on Super Bowl Sunday??? I thought the SB was always the last Sunday in January (sorry, basketball fan here). It never even occured to me that it was in February this year, and in Miami. Prices for everything are going to be doubled or tripled I'm sure. Certainly the hotels are! Oh well, it is what it is and I'll have a wonderful time regardless. I'll just need to save up a few more pennies before I go. :):)

CruiseDreamers Posted August 7, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 7, 2009 You're not the only foolish person. I'm sailing out of Port Everglades on February 8 and during my search for a Hilton points stay nothing was available. I waited a couple days thinking something was wrong with Hilton's web site. On my second try, still nothing available for awards stay. It didn't take much thinking to guess the Super Bowl was that weekend and it was in Miami. We have decided to fly into Orlando and spend our pre-cruise time on Cocoa Beach, driving down to Fort Lauderdale in the morning. Would like to bypass all the crazyness in the Miami greater area Super Bowl weekend.

Luke gs Daddy Posted August 7, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 7, 2009 Try staying around North Miami Beach.
Rare Lois R Posted August 8, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 8, 2009 Try staying around North Miami Beach. North Miami Beach? I don't think so. When the SuperBowl is in Miami, the entire area is booked solid...from South Beach up to North Miami up to Hollywood, Sunrise, Delray, Boynton Beach up to West Palm. All of the municipalities will be filled. Even going across the state to Tampa....those hotels will fill up too. Orlando would be my suggestion....its about 3 hour drive. nseagirl Posted August 9, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted August 9, 2009 I got a room at the Port Holiday Inn for the night before. I guess I should just feel blessed to have gotten a room at all.
